The posting

Reports to: Head of Research & Clinical Impact Department: Research & Clinical Impact Location: Fully remote, United States Employment: Full-time; Exempt Compensation:$112,000 to $132,000 annually

Welcome to Hi Rasmus 👋

At Hi Rasmus, people are at the heart of everything we do. We are building the clinical technology platform that helps autism care teams spend less time fighting software and more time focused on the child in front of them. More than 1,000 organizations across all 50 U.S. states and around the world use Hi Rasmus today. As we enter our next stage of growth, our ambition is bigger than building great technology: we want to positively impact 1 million children and families navigating autism. Our work is rooted in innovation, integrity, collaboration, growth, and empathy. We trust people to do meaningful work with autonomy and care, and we stay close to the clinicians, organizations, children, and families our work is meant to serve.

Why This Role Matters Now

Hi Rasmus is building a dedicated Research & Clinical Impact function to own the evidence agenda: how we study, measure, and communicate the impact of our platform. Our position is unusual. Care organizations of every size and model use Hi Rasmus, which gives us extensive real-world clinical data and the chance to answer questions few others can. But data alone isn’t evidence. Before outcomes data informs product decisions, customer conversations, or payer discussions, we need to evaluate it rigorously and be clear about what it does and does not show, including when the results are mixed or inconclusive. For us, impact isn’t defined only by how many learners our technology reaches. It means helping more children access high-quality care, experience meaningful progress, and see that progress translate into a better everyday life. We anchor it in three measurable dimensions (access, learner outcomes, and social validity), and we want to understand not just whether services were delivered, but whether they worked and whether the outcomes matter to learners, their families, and their clinicians. The opportunity for the right person is not to inherit a mature research function. It is to build its foundation: the methods, benchmarks, and standards that let research evaluate, rather than simply assume, the impact of technology and clinical practice, and that report what the evidence supports.

The Role

The Biostatistician is the quantitative foundation of the Research & Clinical Impact team. You will help Hi Rasmus evaluate its impact rigorously by designing the methodology, benchmarks, and analytical standards that let us say what our data does, and does not, show, whether the findings are favorable, mixed, or inconclusive.

You will own the statistical methods and analysis behind how Hi Rasmus measures clinical impact across access, learner outcomes, and social validity, working with real-world clinical data from care organizations of every size and model. The Head of Research & Clinical Impact owns the research agenda and the standards for clinical evidence and claims, and you will inform both with what the analyses support. Your work is the rigor that lets what we learn travel credibly into research reports, product decisions, customer conversations, and payer discussions.

This is a senior, hands-on role with real influence, and it is function-building: you will be the first hire on the team, doing the analysis yourself while setting the technical standards others will build on. You will partner closely with the Head of Research & Clinical Impact, Data & Engineering, and Clinical Product Strategy.

What You Will Help Make Possible

Your first-year focus will center on three business outcomes. In partnership with your manager and cross-functional peers, you will translate these into specific targets and operating plans.

Objective 1: Measure Our Clinical Impact Rigorously

We want a clear, consistent way to measure access, learner outcomes, and social validity across very different organizations, including whether outcomes are meaningful to autistic learners, families, and clinicians. You will build the statistical foundation for it.

How we will know it is working:

  • First 90 days from your start: you have audited our existing outcomes data and documented what it can and cannot support.
  • Months 3–4: the Head of Research & Clinical Impact defines the clinical-impact framework and the standards for what Hi Rasmus can and cannot responsibly claim, and you take on its statistical methodology as you join.
  • Months 6–8: benchmarks and interpretation methods are in use across research, Product, and Commercial work.
  • Month 12: your analysis forms the foundation for the first annual Hi Rasmus Clinical Impact Report.

Objective 2: Build an Evidence Base People Can Trust

Customers, payers, partners, and journal reviewers will judge our evidence by its rigor. You will make sure our studies hold up to that scrutiny and that we report what the evidence supports, including mixed or inconclusive findings, regardless of how it might be used commercially.

How we will know it is working:

  • Within your first 6 months: reproducible analytic workflows, analysis-plan templates, and data-use standards are in use, built with Data & Engineering and Legal & Compliance.
  • Ongoing through months 12–18: you have provided the analytic foundation for the strategic evidence assets prioritized by the Head of Research & Clinical Impact, such as peer-reviewed work, white papers, and conference presentations.
  • Months 12–18: you have helped build the evidence and measurement framework used in our first payer or value-based care initiative, depending on the timing of payer partnerships.

Objective 3: Build a Clinical Measurement Strategy for Product and Value-Based Care

Providers, families, and payers need measures they can trust to show whether care is working. You will build the statistical foundation for those measures, including whether short-term indicators of progress are credible signals of longer-term outcomes, and help turn it into methods that Product and value-based care models can use.

How we will know it is working:

  • Months 6–12: you have helped define and validate the clinical measurement framework, including how short-term indicators relate to longer-term outcomes, with clear methodology, interpretation standards, and areas that need additional evidence.
  • Months 12–18: at least one complete, product-ready measurement methodology or framework, such as benchmarks or flagging logic, has gone to Clinical Product Strategy and Product for potential incorporation into Hi Rasmus workflows or value-based care models, depending on their capacity.
  • Ongoing: you have contributed evidence that strengthens or refines the framework, including the relationship between short-term indicators and longer-term outcomes.

What You Will Own

Methodology & Measurement

  • Build the statistical methodology behind Hi Rasmus’s clinical-impact framework, including benchmarks and interpretation methods that allow fair comparison of organizations that differ in size and case mix.
  • Validate how outcomes and social validity are measured, using psychometric methods so our measures reflect what matters to autistic learners, families, and clinicians.
  • Assess what conclusions the data can support and what additional evidence stronger claims would require, and report this to the Head of Research & Clinical Impact.

Study Design & Analysis

  • Design and execute analyses of large-scale real-world clinical data, using methods suited to observational data (confounding, missing data, clustered or repeated measures) and testing whether progress is attributable to the care delivered rather than simply associated with it.
  • Write statistical analysis plans and the analytic sections of protocols, and contribute to prospective studies, partnerships, and IRB submissions.

Clinical Measurement Strategy

  • Define the statistical relationship between short-term indicators of progress and longer-term outcomes, including whether shorter-term measures are credible leading indicators.
  • Develop thresholds, flagging or stratification methods, and interpretation methods that identify meaningful patterns in outcomes data, with the Head of Research & Clinical Impact setting the evidence standards.
  • Provide the statistical specifications Product needs so the Head and Clinical Product Strategy can make product recommendations. You own the methodology, and Product owns implementation and prioritization.

Evidence & Governance

  • Co-author publications and white papers, and provide the analytic backbone of the annual Hi Rasmus Clinical Impact Report and evidence packages, reporting what the evidence supports, including mixed or inconclusive findings, independent of how it is used commercially.
  • Contribute data-use standards and the statistical components of research agreements, and advise the Head of Research & Clinical Impact on standards for how findings and claims are used.

How You Will Work Across Hi Rasmus

Clear ownership matters, and so does partnership.

This role will have the authority to:

  • Choose the statistical methods, models, and analytic approaches used in the team’s studies and analyses, within the research agenda and study designs the Head oversees.
  • Set the technical standards for how the team’s analyses are documented, reproduced, and reviewed.
  • Report what the analyses show to the Head and partner teams, including mixed or inconclusive findings, without adjusting the methodology or conclusions for how the results might be used commercially.
  • Maintain scientific independence, so that methodology and conclusions follow the evidence rather than commercial or product interests.

You will partner closely with:

  • Head of Research & Clinical Impact, who owns the research agenda, evidence standards, partnerships, and the evidence and recommendations that go to Product, Commercial, and payer partners; you own the statistical methods and analysis behind them.
  • Data & Engineering to enable data access, data quality, and analytical infrastructure; you own the analytic methods built on them and define what each analysis needs.
  • Clinical Product Strategy and Product to supply the statistical specifications behind product-ready measures; you own the methodology, and Product decides how and when it becomes a capability.
  • Legal & Compliance to put research agreements and data-use terms in place; the Head owns governance standards, and you contribute data-use standards and the statistical components of agreements.

The Kind of Person We Are Looking For

You are a rigorous, collaborative quantitative scientist who pairs technical depth with care for the people behind the data: autistic learners, their families, and the clinicians who support them.

You:

  • Partner easily with clinicians, engineers, product, and compliance colleagues, and learn from customers and the people behind the data.
  • Hold a high bar for rigor without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Value qualitative and lived-experience evidence alongside quantitative evidence, and collaborate with colleagues whose methods differ from yours.
  • Speak up when the data cannot support a claim, and report mixed or inconclusive findings as readily as favorable ones, even under pressure.
  • Are comfortable being the first hire, building foundations others will build on.
  • Are motivated by helping define how quality, outcomes, and value are measured in autism care, in ways that reflect what matters to autistic learners, families, and clinicians.

What You Bring

You Likely Bring

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, public health, quantitative psychology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience applying statistical methods to real-world or observational data, ideally in healthcare, behavioral health, education, or health services research.
  • Strong grounding in regression, multilevel and mixed-effects modeling, longitudinal analysis, risk adjustment, and causal-inference, prediction, or stratification methods for observational data, including thoughtful handling of missing data.
  • Experience with psychometric and survey measurement methods, including reliability, validity, and factor analysis.
  • Proficiency in R or Python and SQL, version control (such as Git), and a commitment to reproducible analytic workflows.
  • Experience writing statistical analysis plans, working within research ethics requirements such as IRB review, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications, posters, or conference presentations.
  • The ability to explain complex statistical findings, including their uncertainty and limits, to clinical, executive, and non-technical audiences.

Helpful but Not Required

  • Experience with autism services or applied behavior analysis data, including single-case experimental designs.
  • Experience with value-based care or healthcare quality measurement.

We care more about your rigor and your ability to learn a complex clinical context than whether you have worked in this exact space before.

If you see yourself in much of this role but not every single line, we hope you will still consider applying.
