Job Description

Exceptional Hospitality Starts with You

Picture yourself brightening someone’s day. When you join our Hotels team, that’s exactly what you’ll do every time you come to work! You are responsible for leading hotel operations overnight, ensuring the safety, security, and satisfaction of our guests while supporting the Front Office team and maintaining smooth hotel operations after hours. As a Night Manager, you’re not just overseeing the hotel during the overnight shift – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by creating a welcoming, safe, and seamless experience for every guest, while providing leadership and support to the team when it matters most.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the hotel overnight: Take ownership of all hotel operations during the night shift, ensuring a safe, efficient, and seamless experience for guests while supporting team members across the property.
  • Create exceptional guest experiences: Ensure every guest feels welcome, valued, and cared for by resolving concerns promptly, personalising service, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality throughout the night.
  • Coordinate overnight operations: Conduct shift handovers and team briefings, monitor guest arrivals and departures, maintain accurate shift records, and ensure clear communication of any issues requiring follow-up.
  • Support and develop the team: Provide leadership and guidance to overnight team members, including Front Office, Porters, Security, Housekeeping and other operational areas, while assisting with training and development.
  • Maintain safety and security: Oversee hotel security procedures, conduct regular property checks, manage incident reporting, coordinate emergency responses when required, and ensure a safe environment for guests and team members.
  • Complete the night audit: Manage end-of-day financial and operational processes, ensuring reports are completed accurately, systems are balanced, and guest accounts are reconciled to support a smooth start to the next day.
  • Collaborate across departments: Work closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage and other teams to ensure service delivery is seamless and operational challenges are resolved efficiently.

Qualifications

At Hilton, our core values define what it takes to succeed here and guide the qualities we look for in every team member:

A passion for spreading the light and warmth of Hospitality. Acting with Integrity and always doing the right thing. Inspiring others through Leadership. A belief that Teamwork drives the best outcomes. A sense of Ownership and accountability. And a focus on the Now, bringing urgency and discipline to every moment, knowing it can make a lasting impact.

  • Previous experience in a Front Office leadership role within a hotel environment, preferably as a Night Manager, Assistant Night Manager, or Duty Manager.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support teams across multiple operational departments during overnight operations.
  • Strong guest service and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to effectively manage guest concerns and complaints.
  • Experience completing night audit procedures, reconciliations, and end-of-day financial reporting.
  • Sound understanding of hotel security, emergency response procedures, and Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with guests, team members, department leaders, and emergency services.
  • Experience using hotel Property Management Systems and maintaining accurate guest and operational records.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, and maintain high service standards during overnight operations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
