About Us

HireHawk connects skilled professionals around the world with career opportunities at U.S. and Canadian companies, including growing teams in legal and compliance. We believe talented professionals should be able to do meaningful work from wherever they are, with clear expectations, strong coordination, and opportunities to grow.

For this opportunity, you will support a law firm handling family-based immigration matters and work closely with attorneys and clients throughout the case lifecycle.

About the Role

As a Legal Assistant in the Family Immigration Department, you will help attorneys prepare, organize, and advance a diverse caseload of family-based immigration matters. Your work will cover cases including I-130 petitions, Consular Processing, Non-immigrant Visas, Advanced Parole, Military Parole in Place, Fiancée Visas, and Family Waivers.

You will have meaningful ownership of case preparation, documentation, deadlines, and client communication while working closely with attorneys on case strategy and submissions. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced bilingual legal professional who understands immigration workflows and wants to contribute directly to cases that can have a lasting impact on families.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize accurate, submission-ready documentation for family-based immigration matters, including I-130 petitions, Consular Processing, Non-immigrant Visas, Advanced Parole, Military PIP, Fiancée Visas, and Family Waivers.
  • Draft and review affidavits, petitions, correspondence, and supporting legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Conduct legal research and provide attorneys with relevant information that supports case preparation and strategy.
  • Build complete case files by collecting, reviewing, and organizing required documentation from clients.
  • Keep cases moving by monitoring progress, tracking deadlines, and proactively coordinating required next steps with attorneys and clients.
  • Maintain accurate case records, databases, and case management systems in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for clients, providing professional case updates and helping them understand documentation and procedural requirements.
  • Coordinate consultations, client meetings, hearings, court appearances, and other case-related appointments.
  • Help prepare clients for hearings and legal proceedings by ensuring required information and documentation are complete and accessible.
  • Support case administration by assisting with service quotes, payment verification, reimbursements, billing-related information, correspondence, filing, and data entry.

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Legal Assistant, including hands-on experience with family-based immigration cases.
  • Working knowledge of family immigration processes such as I-130 petitions, Consular Processing, visas, waivers, and related filings.
  • Professional fluency in both English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple active cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience using legal research tools and case management software.
  • High attention to detail when preparing, reviewing, and maintaining legal documents and case records.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive client information with professionalism and discretion.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a legal, administrative, social sciences, or related field.
  • Paralegal certification or Legal Assistant diploma.
  • Experience handling Advanced Parole, Military Parole in Place, Fiancée Visa, or Family Waiver matters.
  • Experience supporting attorneys in a U.S. immigration law practice.
  • Familiarity with client billing, legal service quotes, payment tracking, or reimbursement processes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
