The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy and lead the charge toward a greener future! We’re looking for an innovative Environmental Specialist to add to our site’s environmental programs and champion sustainability initiatives. In this role, you’ll collaborate across teams, drive impactful projects, and ensure compliance with global standards—all while shaping strategies that make a real difference for our planet and our business.

If you’re passionate about sustainability and thrive in a collaborative environment, this is your chance to create lasting impact.

Key Tasks

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific HSE programs, including detailed risk assessments for manufacturing processes, localized emergency response plans, hazardous materials management, electrical safety protocols for transformer testing, and machinery safety.
  • Conduct regular site-wide risk assessments, safety audits, and environmental inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure robust compliance with Hitachi Energy policies and local/national regulations (e.g., STPS, NOMs, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Lead thorough incident investigations for accidents, injuries, and environmental releases occurring on site, conducting root cause analysis, developing effective corrective and preventive actions, and tracking their implementation.
  • Design, deliver, and coordinate comprehensive HSE training programs for all site personnel, including specialized training on electrical safety, hazardous waste handling, confined spaces, and new equipment operation.
  • Manage and update the site's HSE management system documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, training matrices, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Collaborate closely with factory management, production supervisors, and engineering teams to integrate HSE best practices into daily manufacturing operations and promote a proactive safety culture across the site.
  • Interpret and ensure the factory's compliance with all applicable safety laws and regulations specific to heavy industrial manufacturing and the transformer industry.
  • Prepare the factory for and actively participate in external HSE audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Analyze site-specific HSE performance data, identify trends, and prepare detailed reports for factory leadership, including incident rates, compliance status, and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the planning and execution of comprehensive site emergency drills and continuously review and update the factory's emergency response plans.
  • Be a key driver in the implementation and maintenance of the site's Integrated Management System (Quality, Environment, and Safety), ensuring that all HSE processes at the factory level are fully integrated and compliant with QMS requirements.
  • Monitor and report on the site's QMS performance specifically in relation to HSE objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the QMS from a site HSE perspective and propose practical solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy, traceability, and control of all HSE documents and records managed at the factory within the QMS framework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Safety Engineering, or a related field or minimum 5 years of progressive experience in dedicated HSE roles within a manufacturing, heavy industrial, or energy sector factory environment, with demonstrated success in implementing and managing site-specific HSE systems.
  • Knowledge of site-level HSE regulations (e.g., local STPS/OSHA equivalents, NOMs, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards).
  • Proven experience with risk assessment methodologies (e.g., JSA, PHA, HAZOP) and hands-on incident investigation techniques in a factory setting.
  • Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills, capable of engaging and influencing personnel from the shop floor to site leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities applied to real-world factory challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for detailed reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with factory operations and engineering teams, driving HSE excellence directly on the ground.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Specific knowledge of electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, NOM-001-STPS), chemical handling, and industrial waste management relevant to transformer manufacturing is highly valued.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
