The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy and become part of a global technology organization developing high-performance software for critical power infrastructure. As a Senior R&D Software Developer, you will focus on building robust, secure, and real-time applications using modern C++ technologies while contributing to innovative solutions within the Grid Automation domain.

Working closely with global engineering teams, architects, and product stakeholders, you will help shape next-generation software platforms that demand exceptional performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability. This is an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that support the power grids of tomorrow while influencing technology decisions, architecture evolution, and software modernization initiatives.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Design and develop high-performance, real-time software systems using modern C++ (C++17/20) for mission-critical power grid applications
  • Implement and optimize multithreaded architectures, asynchronous I/O, synchronization mechanisms, and low-latency communication frameworks
  • Drive software performance improvements through profiling, scalability optimization, memory management, and reduction of latency bottlenecks
  • Develop and maintain integrations between native C++ components and managed runtime technologies such as .NET and Rust
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technology roadmaps, code modernization initiatives, and design of secure, scalable software solutions
  • Ensure high software quality through code reviews, testing, and application of engineering best practices including SOLID, KISS, and DRY principles
  • Support cross-platform development, build systems, containerized solutions, and deployment across Linux and Windows environments
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and customer stakeholders to transform complex requirements into efficient technical solutions

Your Background

  • University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 6+ years of experience in software development, including senior-level experience with modern C++ (C++17/20)
  • Strong expertise in multithreading, concurrency, synchronization, asynchronous programming, and real-time system design
  • Experience with cross-platform development, CMake, Visual Studio, Linux, Windows, Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architectures
  • Proven experience in software architecture, performance optimization, testing methodologies, and secure software development
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in international teams

In Addition, the Following Skills Would Be Beneficial for the Role

  • Experience with Rust development and interoperability with C++ systems
  • Practical experience with power grid management, monitoring systems, or energy industry applications
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems such as SCADA, IEDs, and RTUs
  • Experience with industrial protocols including IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, OPC UA, and IEEE C37.118
  • Experience working directly with utility or power grid customers
  • Understanding of power system operations, industry standards, and critical infrastructure software requirements

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
