JOB PURPOSE The Casting Advancement and Specialization Track Engineering Development Program is an eighteen month hands-on program that builds a strong foundation in investment casting while applying engineering skills to real business and manufacturing challenges. CAST Engineers gain exposure to different business units and specialized engineering disciplines while completing business-driven projects designed to build technical depth, practical manufacturing knowledge, and increasing independence. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Project Execution
Applies engineering principles to assigned business and manufacturing projects that support process improvement, product performance, quality, tooling, design, metrology, business development, and related technical priorities.
Engineering Analysis & Problem Solving
Collects and analyzes technical and operational data, evaluates problems and root causes, develops potential solutions, and supports implementation of improvements using structured problem-solving methods.
Rotational & Specialized Engineering Experience
Completes assigned rotations and project work across business units and specialized engineering areas, including process, product, metrology, quality, business development, tooling, and design, to build broad technical knowledge and develop deeper expertise over the course of the program.
Manufacturing & Process Improvement
Supports efforts to improve manufacturing processes, process control, quality, efficiency, reliability, and overall operational performance through engineering analysis and project work.
Technical Communication & Documentation
Documents project scope, analysis, findings, recommendations, and results, and communicates technical information effectively to engineering, operations, program leaders, and other stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, metallurgical, chemical, industrial, manufacturing, materials, or a related engineering field strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles through academic projects, internships, co-ops, research, or other relevant experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of engineering principles and their application to manufacturing or technical problem solving. Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and develop practical solutions to technical and operational problems. Ability to learn new processes, technologies, and engineering disciplines and apply that knowledge in different rotational assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly to varied audiences. Ability to organize and manage multiple assignments, priorities, and project deadlines. Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, quality, and other business functions. Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and initiative in learning unfamiliar processes and solving problems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a combination of office, engineering, laboratory, and manufacturing environments. The CAST Engineer will spend time in active manufacturing and investment casting areas and may be exposed to heat, noise, moving equipment, dust, fumes, and other conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas. The role requires regular movement throughout manufacturing facilities and between assigned business units or departments.
