Our people are the key to our success, which is why we seek to recruit and retain the most talented individuals in all regions of our global practice.

Finance Systems, in liaison with Technology, supports the Finance teams worldwide and provides a reporting facility both for Central Management and to Partners. The team currently consists of the Finance Systems Manager with analysts based in London and Hong Kong, a Senior Finance Systems Manager with analysts based in the US, and a Finance Systems Manager – Product Owner based in London. This is a global team reporting to the Global Head of Finance Systems.

The Finance Systems Team (FST) provides first-line technical support for all computer systems used by the Finance staff of Hogan Lovells Cadwalader worldwide. This currently includes the following systems:

Finance systems also support/manage the BI reporting solution in partnership with the Technology team. This solution is currently based on Analysis Services (MDX / DAX) surfaced primarily using SSRS reports and vendor-developed dashboards from Big Square/Foundation Finance.

In addition to support, the department plays an active role in the development and enhancement of our finance systems. This includes application configuration and code development across a range of platforms (SQL, VB.net, MDX / DAX). The department works closely with the Technology team to test and deploy these changes through to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary focus of this role is to support our Finance users globally in all applications used by the department. Full training of our systems will be provided but solid experience in supporting 3E and related finance systems is preferred.

We have structured the team such that all team members learn, develop and mentor on a set of core systems skills which are used across many applications. As a team we then assign and rotate periodically specific applications / areas to individuals to lead in that space. It’s expected that new members of the team will take time to learn the core skills and applications before specialising. The exact approach on specialisation will be determined by your prior experience, interests and the business need but will serve as a framework for your growth within the team.

This is a hands-on role which at times will mean working unsociable hours to meet the needs of the business. To assist with this responsibility a shared team mailbox is in operation to provide out-of-hours incident support and scheduled out-of-hours work is rotated across the team leveraging our coverage across time zones.

In this role you will have opportunity to interact with a wide range of people including finance and other business services departments, lawyers, partners and senior management. The core responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility to provide timely and effective support of finance systems, in liaison with Technology and appropriate vendor support teams. This will involve communicating with users to understand their process request or technical issue, troubleshooting and liaising with other teams and/or suppliers.
  • Maintenance of the finance applications configuration and core setups. This will often involve understanding the configuration from both a technical and functional perspective, utilizing the appropriate core systems skills.
  • Assisting in the development of finance systems – robust testing of new functionality, processes and setups and preparation of related documentation for sign off.
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of user and technical level documentation organised through the Finance Systems portal.
  • Provide month-end support to the global Finance Department and perform month-end closing on a rotating schedule
  • Regular and Ad-hoc client and Firm specific reporting from various sources utilizing MDX, Excel and SQL.
  • The incumbent may take on mini projects from time to time. This will involve attending project meetings and working with other departments in Finance and Technology as required in relation to the projects concerned, keeping the appropriate manager regularly informed of progress and developments.
  • As part of this role there is the possibility that the incumbent may be required to work at any of the Firm’s offices.
  • Attend training from time to time, both in terms of technical training and personal development. Training resources are made available within the department. This may be product-related e.g., 3E, or cultural/soft skills training.
  • Ensure that the firm's information security policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Complete security awareness training within a reasonable timeframe and apply the policy, and training requirements when handling information.
  • Inform your manager or senior member of staff if you become aware of, or suspect a breach of security.
  • Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location, or services.
  • All members of the firm are required to participate in our Global Responsible Business program.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
