Job Description

Senior Manager, Operations Finance

Location: Marlborough, Simarano Site (Hybrid)

Summary of Role:

The Senior Manager, Operations Finance will lead operations finance and cost accounting for Hologic’s Simarano and Redwood manufacturing sites, partnering closely with site leadership, the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team and finance leaders across the company. Beyond this site focus, the role will serve as an operations finance leader for the broader manufacturing network, sharing best practices and helping raise the standard for cost accounting, close and plant financial management across Hologic’s sites.

This role provides an integrated view of manufacturing performance, translating plant results, inventory, product cost and operational trends into actionable insights for leadership. The Senior Manager owns plant month-end close and variance analysis, leads the annual standard cost update, oversees inventory reporting and reserves, and drives the plant budget and forecast, while identifying risks, opportunities and cost reduction levers that impact gross margin.

As a leader within Global Supply Chain Finance, this individual will manage and develop a team of analysts, raise analytical standards, strengthen controls and cross-functional accountability, and drive automation and process improvements that improve the quality, speed and effectiveness of financial decision support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead operations finance for the Simarano manufacturing site, providing site leadership with a clear, forward-looking view of plant performance, cost drivers, risks, opportunities and priorities.
  • Own plant month-end close and variance analysis, including manufacturing variances, purchase price variance (PPV), absorption and scrap, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of COGS and inventory.
  • Lead the annual standard cost update and cost roll for the site, partnering with Global Supply Chain Finance on inventory revaluation and quantifying gross margin impacts.
  • Provide financial leadership for product transfers and capacity changes, including cost, inventory and standard cost impacts.
  • Oversee inventory reporting, excess and obsolete reserves and physical/cycle counts; partner with Operations and Supply Chain to deliver inventory reduction targets and working capital improvements.
  • Lead the plant budget, forecast and spend tracking processes, including cost center and capital reporting, coordinating with Corporate FP&A and ensuring assumptions align with production plans and operating trends.
  • Contribute site content to the Global Supply Chain monthly business review and global gross margin reporting, synthesizing results into clear commentary and variance explanations.
  • Partner with Accounting, Quality and Operations to maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliance over inventory, standard cost and manufacturing accounting processes.
  • Establish and share best practices across the manufacturing network for standard costing, the cost roll, inventory reserves, variance analysis and month-end close, driving consistency in methodology and reporting across sites.
  • Serve as the go-to operations finance resource for site finance teams across the network, raising the consistency, analytical quality and business partnership of operations finance at every site.
  • Manage, mentor and develop a team of analysts, establishing analytical standards, reviewing deliverables and coaching the team on cost accounting, financial analysis, storytelling and business partnership.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across close, costing, reporting and analytics, identifying opportunities to improve cycle time, accuracy, scalability and decision support.
  • Act as a finance leader and trusted business partner, driving accountability through clear communication, constructive challenge, follow-through and ownership of issues from identification through resolution.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty exceptionally. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team, lead through influence and raise the quality of work across a team.
  • Strong cost accounting and manufacturing finance expertise, including standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis and cost roll processes.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with experience translating complex financial and operational information into clear recommendations for plant and supply chain leaders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing insights and materials for executive audiences.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed, multi-site organization and partner across functions, sites and levels of leadership.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills with a strong understanding of accounting principles, US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Strong ownership mindset, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment.
  • Commitment to learning, growth mindset, and focus on automation and innovation.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required; MBA, CPA or CMA considered a plus.
  • 8+ years related financial experience, including cost accounting or operations finance in a manufacturing environment and experience leading, mentoring or managing analysts.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or broader supply chain functions (distribution, logistics) is a plus.
  • Experience leading month-end close, standard cost, budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing sites.
  • Experience in medical device or another FDA-regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle, Hyperion or similar ERP and planning platforms.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
