Objective:

The General Manager in Training (GMIT) is a leadership development role designed to prepare a motivated career professional to lead a Home Instead location. Based at our corporate headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the GMIT will work closely with experienced leaders and gain hands-on experience across operations, sales, recruiting, staffing, financial performance, and team leadership. As skills and experience develop, the GMIT will take on increasing levels of responsibility while integrating our Core Value, Love (v.), into the culture of the organization: patience, kindness, humility, selflessness, respectfulness, forgiveness, honesty, and commitment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Learn how each functional area of the business works together to drive growth, operational performance, and strong client service.
  • Gain hands-on experience with revenue, expenses, budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and other key business metrics.
  • Support sales and business development efforts, including building community and referral relationships.
  • Learn and participate in recruiting, staffing, employee retention, coaching, and team development.
  • Review performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve growth, service, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Participate in business reviews, leadership meetings, strategic planning, and operational projects.
  • Build strong relationships with Key Players, Care Professionals, clients, families, and referral partners.
  • Take on increasing levels of leadership responsibility as skills, experience, and readiness develop.
  • Travel to and support other company locations as needed.
  • Adhere to and implement company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, marketing, healthcare administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Early professional experience demonstrating leadership, initiative, or increasing responsibility.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Interest in business operations, sales, people leadership, and financial performance.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and managing changing priorities.
  • Willingness to receive feedback, learn quickly, and take ownership.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort working with numbers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Previous home care or healthcare experience is helpful, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to learn business operations quickly and apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage changing business needs.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, adaptability, and willingness to accept feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to analyze performance information and use data to support business decisions.
  • Professional demeanor and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Career Path and Relocation:

Relocation is a nonnegotiable requirement of this position. The GMIT will be based in Green Bay, Wisconsin during an anticipated training period of approximately 3-12 months. Candidates must be willing to relocate within the company footprint when an appropriate General Manager opportunity becomes available. Current markets include Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. Future placement will depend on business needs, available opportunities, and demonstrated readiness.

WCSC will provide relocation assistance for qualifying moves associated with placement into a General Manager position. Specific assistance will be determined based on the location and circumstances of the move.

Our Culture:

Our leaders are responsible for both business performance and creating an environment where employees, Care Professionals, clients, and families feel valued. Our culture is grounded in our Core Value of Love (v.), demonstrated through patience, kindness, humility, selflessness, respectfulness, forgiveness, honesty, and commitment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
