Overview

A freestanding ER in Longview, TX is seeking a Patient Facilitator to join their team. The Patient Facilitator will strive to provide proficient, competent care while maintaining the patient’s sense of comfort and dignity.

Responsibilities for the Patient Facilitator

  1. Following all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies including the proper wearing and donning of PPE.
  2. Demonstrating care and cultural sensitivity, comforting patients and their families by offering support, and being punctual and attentive to procedures schedules.
  3. Transporting patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and moveable beds: assisting patients in and out of vehicles; lifting patients on and off beds; moving patients to and from special service and treatment areas.
  4. Transporting patients in a timely manner to and from clinics and departments for medical tests along with any required patient equipment and medical chart.
  5. Cleaning patient transport equipment before and after each use.
  6. Ensuring that the patient is properly identified before transporting.
  7. Demonstrating proper body mechanics and assistant devices when assistant patients.
  8. Transporting laboratory specimens by picking up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratories.
  9. Transporting equipment and supplies by picking up requisitioned orders; delivery them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas.
  10. Communicating effectively with patients, nurses, physicians, and all other hospital personnel.
  11. Completing daily responsibilities upon arrival and prior to departure of shift including cleaning, stocking, and organizing.
  12. Maintaining patient rooms and common areas within the facility, turning/changing patient rooms, stocking of patient rooms, lobby, and nursing station.
  13. Coordinating the inventory of items within the facility to include picking up bulk orders and restocking supplies.
  14. Taking tests to the Lab and retrieving test; placing lab results to correct charts.
  15. Assisting with lab reports and specimens to and from various areas.
  16. Maintaining accountability to the Staff Registered Nurse, Physician, Radiology Regional Director, and Director of Nurses.

Requirements and Qualifications for the Patient Facilitator

  • Current driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Maintains flexibility and availability for on‐call and any coverage requirements that are not otherwise met by the Patient Facilitator staff.
  • Maintains a positive attitude towards patients, guests, and visitors.
  • Customer service experience: demonstrated ability in customer service practice related to direct patient care in high volume, high stress environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, impeccable organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates competency of Physical Assessment within 90 days, as evaluated by Patient Facilitator Supervisor.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in the English Language.
  • One‐year recent experience as either a Transporter, Home Health Aide, CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant.
