Role Overview

As the Director, Procurement & Vendor Management, you lead HCP's procurement and vendor management function within Information Systems, driving strategic technology sourcing, vendor partnerships, and operational efficiency across the organization. You establish and execute procurement strategies that optimize technology investments, strengthen vendor relationships, and enable the business to scale effectively while maintaining strong governance, security, and compliance standards.

You oversee the end-to-end technology procurement lifecycle, including vendor selection, strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, purchasing approvals, vendor performance, and renewal management. You partner closely with Information Systems, Security, Legal, Finance, and cross-functional business leaders to evaluate technology needs, identify opportunities for vendor consolidation, and ensure purchasing decisions align with organizational priorities, technical requirements, and long-term technology strategy. You bring a data-driven approach to vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and technology usage forecasting while balancing operational efficiency with business agility.

You play a critical role in developing scalable procurement processes, systems, and governance frameworks that improve technology visibility, reduce vendor-related risk, and support HCP's evolving technology ecosystem. You influence stakeholders across the organization, establish accountability for technology purchasing decisions, and continuously improve how HCP evaluates, acquires, integrates, and manages third-party solutions. You serve as a trusted partner to technical and business leaders, translating complex vendor and technology decisions into actionable recommendations that strengthen operational capabilities and support long-term organizational growth.

Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Their success is our success.

What you do each day:

  • Develop and execute technology procurement and vendor management strategies that strengthen HCP's technology ecosystem, improve operational efficiency, and support organizational growth
  • Lead strategic sourcing, vendor evaluations, and competitive selection processes across software, Software as a Service (SaaS), artificial intelligence (AI) tools, cloud infrastructure, communications platforms, and technology-enabled business services
  • Direct complex vendor negotiations, including enterprise agreements, multi-year contracts, usage-based pricing structures, renewals, and commercial terms, ensuring solutions meet technical, operational, and business requirements
  • Establish and oversee technology procurement policies, purchasing workflows, vendor onboarding standards, and approval processes in partnership with Information Systems, Security, Legal, and Finance
  • Evaluate technology purchasing decisions and provide leadership with recommendations based on business requirements, vendor capabilities, product evaluations, pricing benchmarks, implementation considerations, security requirements, and potential risks
  • Oversee vendor contract lifecycle management, including contract documentation, renewal planning, service commitments, licensing requirements, and proactive vendor engagement to ensure continuity and operational effectiveness
  • Partner with Information Systems and cross-functional leaders to assess technology utilization, forecast software and platform needs, identify redundant applications, and drive opportunities for vendor consolidation and technology stack optimization
  • Collaborate with Information Systems, Security, and Legal to establish vendor governance standards, including security assessments, data protection requirements, single sign-on (SSO) capabilities, integration compatibility, and third-party risk management
  • Drive the evaluation, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement, vendor management, and contract lifecycle management platforms while establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure vendor performance, process efficiency, and technology utilization
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key technology vendors and internal stakeholders, lead vendor business reviews, monitor service-level agreements (SLAs), and drive accountability for product performance, service delivery, and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management, including at least 3 years negotiating technology, SaaS, or services contracts
  • Experience negotiating multi-year software agreements and renewals
  • Experience managing purchase order processes and working with a spend management platform or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Ability to manage procurement systems such as Ramp, Tropic, and Vendr
  • Experience reviewing contracts and partnering with Legal on renewal, liability, data protection, and termination terms
  • Experience at a fast-growing company, including establishing procurement processes
  • Proven experience driving team efficiency or output quality through the strategic use of AI tools and automation
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management tools, spend management platforms, and vendor pricing benchmarks preferred
  • Experience with FinOps principles or procurement certifications (e.g., CPSM) preferred

What will help you succeed:

  • Ability to align procurement decisions with business needs and priorities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor relationship management skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and improve processes
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and balance business needs with operational efficiency
  • Collaborative approach to building relationships across teams
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
