Business Development Manager – NBS Specifier Newcastle upon Tyne | Hybrid: three days in the office, two from home Competitive basic salary + commission OTE £56,300 Year 1 | £70,300 Year 2 Monday–Friday | 35 hours The opportunity NBS Powered By Hubexo has worked with the UK construction industry for more than 50 years. Today, its specification solutions are used by more than 3,400 architectural and engineering practices, including 93% of the AJ Top 100 architectural practices. As a Business Development Manager in our Specifier team, you’ll be responsible for bringing new customers into that established NBS community. You’ll work primarily with architects, specifiers and other construction professionals, helping them understand how NBS Powered by Hubexo can support the way they create and manage project specifications. You’ll build your own pipeline, explore how prospective customers currently work and take opportunities from initial conversation through discovery and demonstration to negotiation and close. This is a genuine new-business role with a product that is an established name in the market, but you’ll still be expected to create opportunities, develop relationships and win new customers rather than inherit an existing portfolio. You don’t need to arrive with construction or specification experience. You’ll develop your understanding of the market and our products with support from the team. What matters is your ability to engage prospective customers, understand their needs, communicate value and develop a commercial opportunity. What you’ll be doing • Build your own pipeline through proactive prospecting and new-business activity. • Speak with architects, specifiers and other construction professionals to understand how they currently work, their priorities and where NBS could help. • Run structured discovery conversations and turn what you learn into relevant, value-led demonstrations. • Develop opportunities from first conversation through proposal, negotiation and close. • Manage your pipeline and forecasts accurately in HubSpot. • Work with colleagues across the commercial team and use coaching, feedback and your results to keep developing your sales approach. What you’ll bring We’re interested in your ability to create opportunities and develop customer conversations, rather than looking for one particular industry background. You’ll need to be comfortable starting conversations with prospective customers, asking good questions and listening to the answers. You’ll be able to explain value clearly, stay organised across a pipeline of opportunities and take ownership of your performance. Resilience matters too. New business means hearing no as well as yes, learning from what works and continuing to create the next opportunity. Previous B2B sales experience would be useful. Experience in construction, SaaS or specification isn’t essential. What you can expect You’ll have the opportunity to develop experience across the new-business sales cycle while building specialist knowledge of NBS and the construction specification market. Your commission provides OTE of £55,300 in Year 1 and £70,300 in Year 2 this is uncapped and genuine earning potential for 100% of target. You’ll also receive: • 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday. • Hybrid working: three days in our One Trinity Gardens office and two from home. • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell holiday. • Birthday leave and a half-day at Christmas. • Two volunteering days. • Pension and life assurance. • Discounted private medical insurance. • 24/7 remote GP access and Employee Assistance Programme. • Onsite gym. • Eye-care support. • Cycle-to-work scheme. • Interest-free travel-ticket loan.
