Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms, particularly HiveMQ and HighByte Intelligence Hub.

The role involves deploying, automating, monitoring, and maintaining edge-to-cloud solutions connecting manufacturing and Operational Technology (OT) systems with enterprise and cloud platforms.

Location: Groton, CT (Onsite) Duration: 6–12+ Months Contract

Experience Required: 5+ years in DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineering, with hands-on exposure to MQTT/IIoT platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, automate, and maintain DevOps infrastructure supporting IIoT applications.
  • Deploy and administer HiveMQ MQTT brokers, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, security, and scalability.
  • Deploy and manage HighByte Intelligence Hub and associated industrial data pipelines.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Containerize applications using Docker and manage deployments with Kubernetes.
  • Support edge-to-cloud data pipelines connecting PLC, SCADA, MES, historian, ERP, and cloud systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial connectivity using MQTT, OPC UA, REST APIs, and TCP/IP.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability for infrastructure, MQTT brokers, edge applications, and data pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, certificates, authentication, connectivity, and data-flow issues across OT, edge, and cloud environments.
  • Implement DevSecOps practices covering access management, secrets, certificates, vulnerability management, and secure deployments.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve availability, performance, security, and scalability.

Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with MQTT/IIoT platforms.
  • Experience with HiveMQ MQTT broker deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HighByte Intelligence Hub, including installation, configuration, deployment, upgrades, or operational support.
  • Strong understanding of MQTT architecture, topics, publishers/subscribers, QoS, connectivity, and security.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • CI/CD experience using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
  • Infrastructure automation experience using Terraform and/or Ansible.
  • Strong Linux administration and scripting skills.
  • Experience with Azure or AWS cloud environments.
  • Understanding of industrial/OT connectivity, particularly OPC UA and MQTT.
  • Experience supporting highly available, secure, production-grade environments.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Azure IoT Hub or Azure Event Hubs.
  • Direct experience with both HiveMQ and HighByte Intelligence Hub.
  • Experience integrating manufacturing/OT systems with enterprise and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and industrial data pipelines.
