The posting

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to join our Information Security team in Mumbai. In this role, you will help design, build, and maintain solutions that protect HRT’s global infrastructure, systems, and data within one of the world’s most advanced computing environments. You will have the opportunity to build and harness AI tools to solve cutting edge security problems. This is a senior-level, hands-on individual contributor role in cybersecurity, spanning both operations and compliance domains.

From an operational standpoint, you will be responsible for detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, cyber threat intelligence analysis, and adversary emulation exercises for our global infrastructure and systems.

You will also serve as HRT’s Designated Officer in India for applicable regulatory compliance purposes. Approximately 25% of the role will focus on regional regulatory and governance responsibilities, including control assessments, risk management, evidence collection and reporting, and coordination with Compliance, Legal, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders, as well as auditors and regulators. This is not a people management position. We are looking for an experienced engineer who can independently own these responsibilities while remaining deeply involved in hands-on security work.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with global Information Security, Compliance, Legal, and Engineering teams to support applicable regulation and local cybersecurity obligations
  • Translate regulatory and security requirements into practical technical controls, implementation guidance, evidence, and reporting
  • Assess security controls against applicable regulations and industry-standard frameworks, document risks and gaps, and coordinate remediation with accountable owners
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with HRT’s global teams, auditors, vendors, and other external stakeholders
  • Help maintain HRT’s security detection and response program to protect our data and intellectual property from both internal and external threats
  • Hunt for, detect, and respond to malicious activity and anomalous events on HRT’s devices and networks
  • Conduct cyber threat intelligence research to identify relevant threat actors, and perform adversary emulation and purple teaming exercises
  • Investigate security events and support incident response, including any required regional coordination, documentation, and reporting
  • Work an on-call rotation on a predefined schedule

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in security engineering
  • Experience with red teaming and penetration testing tools and techniques
  • Firm grasp of emerging AI security threats and mitigating controls
  • Experience using log analysis platforms such as ELK and Splunk
  • Experience building, deploying, and supporting automated systems (Python preferred)
  • Strong security fundamentals and experience working with Linux systems and command-line tools
  • Experience supporting security governance, risk, compliance, or regulatory requirements, preferably within a heavily regulated industry
  • Experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams and communicating clearly with engineers, business stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to independently drive work from problem definition through implementation
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and SEBI CSCRF is preferred
  • Experience working independently to deliver high-quality completed work

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
