Summary/Objective Leads and coordinates the daily work of the maintenance team while performing hands-on troubleshooting and repair of production equipment. Supervises work assignments, staffing, and training for maintenance technicians; ensures compliance with safety, quality, and production goals. Performs electrical, mechanical, millwright, plumbing, and pipefitting work associated with equipment installation, and assists in building new production equipment according to blueprints and schematics.

Qualifying Experience Hired From Outside HD Maintenance Two years technical trade school and four years practical experience. OR 4+ years practical experience in maintenance disciplines (HVAC repair technician, equipment maintenance technician at an industrial/manufacturing company, certified auto mechanic, airframes and power plant school, or avionics technician). Proven ability to lead by example, take ownership of responsibilities, and effectively support and guide team members in the absence of formal supervisory authority.

Existing HD Maintenance Technician Hunter Douglas Level III maintenance technician (or equivalent) with completion of all Level III Training Certification requirements and demonstrates ability to lead by example, take ownership of responsibilities, and effectively support and guide team members in the absence of formal supervisory authority.

Essential Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.) • Leads and coordinates the daily work of the maintenance team, assigning and directing personnel and managing department projects from start to finish, including scheduling, planning, obtaining required materials, sourcing tools needed for team, and on-time completion. • Monitors maintenance team staffing levels needed for production purposes; notifies the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager of staffing needs or concerns. • Assists in training new maintenance employees or temporary agency employees on work processes and the proper, safe operation of equipment; may be teamed with a technician of another level to train or be trained on various phases of equipment maintenance. • Reviews daily performance of maintenance team members and assists employees as needed; compiles feedback on individual work performance. Participates in employee performance feedback. • Conducts level checklists of team members with the supervisor for equipment or work-process certification and determines whether an employee meets certification expectations. • Communicates with equipment operators and maintenance technicians on other shifts to gather information on equipment malfunctions. • Provides technical leadership during equipment troubleshooting, helping technicians identify root causes, ask the right questions, and implement solutions that prevent recurring issues. Drives a culture of continuous learning and effective problem-solving across the team. • Reads, interprets, and properly red-lines mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics; identifies discrepancies between the actual part and drawings; makes recommendations to engineers on functional design changes. • Completes daily reports and summaries of department performance and communicates with the supervisor. • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. • Position requires regular and predictable attendance. • Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

Other Functions • Keeps team accountable in keeping shop clean and continuously doing 5S. Participates in and implements Continuous Improvement projects with engineering, quality assurance, materials, fabrication, and maintenance to redesign work processes or tools. • Serves as backup to the Maintenance Supervisor as needed.

Qualifications and KSA's for Employment An employee in this position, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following: Solid knowledge of computers Solid knowledge of word processing (Microsoft Word) Solid knowledge of spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel) Expert knowledge of basic math, including working with fractions and decimals, solving simple algebraic equations, creating and solving simple math word problems, and English-to-metric/metric-to-English conversions Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) Solid knowledge of leadership and training principles, with the ability to direct personnel Solid knowledge of analytical and problem-solving skills; promotes creative problem-solving among team members Solid knowledge of and application of the principles of communication, both verbal and written, to deal with all levels of management and production personnel Solid knowledge of planning, with the ability to manage projects from start to finish Solid knowledge to work with Engineering on FMEA projects Solid knowledge of TPM and 5S practices Solid knowledge of the product line, associated work processes, and the various fabrics used Expert knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) Solid controls and automation skills Expert knowledge of the use of hand-held power tools (drills), hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers), electrical measuring devices (ammeters, voltmeters), and shop equipment (mills, lathes, hydraulic press) Expert knowledge of how to use precision measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers Expert knowledge of CMMS (MaintainX) Skill in developing and maintaining effective work relationships Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics Ability to work independently with little direct supervision Ability to organize and outline procedures and processes Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments at one time Ability to use motivational techniques to develop decision-making skills in team members

Acceptable Training and Experience includes two years technical trade school and/or +4 years practical experience, maintenance disciplines, plus proven ability in a supervisory or team-lead experience in a production environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Work experience with electrical wiring of mechanical equipment is required.

Physical Requirements Body Movement Will constantly walk within the production area, including among team member work stations, from tool crib to production equipment, while building or performing equipment repairs. Will constantly stand while building or repairing production equipment. Will frequently bend and stoop while working on assembly of product or equipment situated close to the floor. Will frequently climb a safety ladder to a height of 12 feet to work on the topside of a piece of equipment, and frequently use a scissors lift at a height of 20 feet to work on top of production equipment. Will frequently reach at arm's length to tighten nuts and bolts using a socket wrench. Will occasionally sit on the floor while repairing equipment. Will occasionally twist at the elbow and shoulder while working on equipment where screws or bolts may be located in confined spaces. Will occasionally push or pull with the use of a forklift or pallet jack (loads of 150 pounds or more) to move production equipment or materials.

Back and Upper Body (Lifting and Carrying) Will occasionally lift and carry replacement parts, weighing up to 75 pounds, from the shop area to production equipment. Will occasionally move window fashions or component parts weighing 15 to 30 pounds between work stations.

Vision Constantly using sight in performance of daily job duties. Must have average or better color acuity.

Sense of Touch Constantly using sense of touch to feel surface temperatures of production equipment prior to performing repairs, and to thread nuts and bolts together while working on equipment.

Hearing Constantly listens for warning alarms and signals on production equipment, backup alarms on forklift equipment, and communicates with other team members while troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.

Work Environment Production environment with noise generated by production equipment. Fumes from print inks, adhesives, isopropyl alcohol, and laser tables; fabric dust; delivery truck exhaust.
