About Our Client / About the Role

Our client is an established food distribution business serving hospitality and foodservice customers in Malaysia. It seeks a hands-on Managing Director to lead commercial growth, financial performance and day-to-day operations. A strong General Manager or Business Unit Head ready for broader leadership responsibility may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set business plans, growth priorities, profitability targets and measurable goals for each function.
  • Lead customer development, key account relationships, commercial negotiations and sales performance.
  • Guide sourcing, supplier relationships, portfolio decisions and pricing.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, warehousing, logistics and customer service; improve workflow and delivery performance.
  • Maintain product quality, food safety, stock control and appropriate compliance practices.
  • Take ownership of the P&L, budgets, cash flow, margins, costs and receivables.
  • Coach department leaders, build accountability and report business performance and risks to senior stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; an MBA is welcomed.
  • Demonstrated leadership of teams and business performance, ideally with P&L ownership or responsibility across multiple functions.
  • Strong financial understanding, commercial judgement and practical operational problem-solving ability.
  • Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Experience in food distribution, foodservice, food trading or FMCG is strongly preferred. Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work closely with teams on the ground and provide practical direction.

Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

Remuneration Package

Package to be determined based on experience and qualifications. Further compensation and benefits details will be confirmed.
