About Us

Hyatt Place Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is a 92-room hotel located in the heart of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, just minutes from historic Charleston, area beaches, and some of the region’s top shopping, dining, and entertainment destinations.

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our Housekeeping team. This position plays an important role in ensuring clean, fresh, and properly maintained linens are available throughout the hotel.

Whether sorting and washing linens, carefully folding finished items, or supporting Room Attendants with supplies, our Laundry Attendants help create the clean and comfortable experience our guests expect.

Position Summary

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing, drying, folding, organizing, and distributing linens while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, quality, safety, and productivity.

This position combines commercial laundry operations, linen inspection, inventory organization, Housekeeping support, cleaning, and equipment-care responsibilities to ensure the hotel has an adequate supply of clean linens each day.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, physically active, and committed to cleanliness and quality.

Essential Functions

Laundry Operations

  • Sort linens and towels according to item type, color, fabric, and cleaning requirements.
  • Load and operate commercial washers and dryers according to established procedures.
  • Use approved laundry chemicals in the correct amounts and follow all handling instructions.
  • Monitor wash and dry cycles to ensure linens are processed safely and efficiently.
  • Remove linens promptly from machines to maintain productivity and prevent wrinkles.
  • Fold towels, sheets, pillowcases, and other linens according to hotel standards.
  • Maintain a steady workflow to ensure clean linens are available for hotel operations.
  • Complete assigned daily laundry production and closing responsibilities.

Linen Quality & Inventory

  • Inspect linens for stains, damage, wear, and overall cleanliness.
  • Rewash or treat stained items when appropriate.
  • Separate damaged or unusable linens and report recurring quality concerns.
  • Organize clean linens by type and store them in designated areas.
  • Maintain accurate linen organization and rotation.
  • Monitor linen and laundry-supply levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Help prevent linen loss through proper sorting, storage, and handling.

Housekeeping Support

  • Deliver clean linens and supplies to Housekeeping closets and designated hotel areas.
  • Collect used linens and towels from assigned locations.
  • Assist Room Attendants with stripping guestrooms when needed.
  • Deliver supplies and amenities to Room Attendants as assigned.
  • Assist with removing trash from guestrooms and Housekeeping work areas.
  • Help restock Housekeeping closets, carts, and supply areas.
  • Support the Housekeeping team during high-occupancy periods and other busy operational times.

Guest Services

  • Welcome guests with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude.
  • Respond courteously to guest questions and requests.
  • Deliver requested linens, towels, or amenities when assigned.
  • Report guest concerns to the appropriate department or manager.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while working in guest areas.

Cleaning & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, healthy, organized, and safe laundry area.
  • Sweep and mop floors and clean laundry-room surfaces.
  • Empty trash and lint containers regularly.
  • Clean lint traps and equipment surfaces according to established procedures.
  • Restock laundry chemicals and supplies as needed.
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and chemical-handling requirements.
  • Properly use, label, store, and secure laundry chemicals.
  • Report equipment problems, maintenance concerns, leaks, and safety hazards promptly.
  • Ensure laundry equipment is clean, functional, and properly maintained.

Teamwork & Operations

  • Work closely with Room Attendants, Housepersons, Guest Services, Maintenance, and Management.
  • Communicate effectively regarding linen levels, supply needs, equipment issues, and operational priorities.
  • Assist with public-area cleaning or other Housekeeping responsibilities when needed.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Follow Hyatt brand standards and company policies.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining organized and productive.
  • Ability to follow instructions and safely operate commercial laundry equipment.
  • Ability to properly handle laundry chemicals and cleaning products.
  • Dependable and punctual, with reliable attendance.
  • Ability to maintain productivity while completing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a warm, humid, and physically active environment.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays based on business needs.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and carry linens and supplies.
  • Ability to push and maneuver laundry carts throughout the hotel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous laundry, housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience.
  • Previous experience in a hotel or commercial environment.
  • Experience cleaning or working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience operating commercial washers and dryers.
  • Knowledge of laundry chemicals, stain treatment, and linen-care procedures.
  • Hyatt or hotel experience preferred.

Schedule Expectations

  • Morning and daytime availability may be required.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required based on business needs.
  • Shifts may begin early to ensure clean linens are available for Housekeeping operations.
  • Schedules may vary based on hotel occupancy, linen volume, and operational needs.
