The posting

The Opportunity:

The Claims Advocate is a client facing role providing interpretation of policy language, coverage analysis, advocacy, coverage and dispute resolution, specifically working with Clients in the Small Business and Personal Lines space. This position will act as liaison between clients, internal and external stakeholders to advocate for our clients in resolving any issues relating to their loss.

In This Role You Will Execute On:

  • Proactively manage the claims process for assigned clients/claims liaising with clients, adjusters, carriers, and other external parties as well as Hylant client executives and client services team members to advocate and facilitate claim resolution.
  • Actively research and obtain claims information from clients and carriers, monitor claims status and action plans, and proactively communicate with all interested parties.
  • Negotiate with insurers, adjusters and other stakeholders to expedite and obtain fair settlement of claims.
  • Consult with clients and internal stakeholders to understand client coverage needs and intentions; provide knowledge and guidance on claims processes, policy coverage, terms, and conditions.
  • Review and recommend solutions to coverage and loss management issues where appropriate.
  • Assist clients in preparing special claims servicing instructions ensuring to meet the needs of the client’s and the structure of their insurance programs/policies.
  • Produce and maintain records, reports, presentations, and other documents necessary to record claim details. Consult with clients and internal stakeholders to gauge claims experience and make recommendations to improve the client experience where appropriate.
  • Participate in presentations and meetings with current and prospective clients; provide claims expertise to support client retention and new business efforts.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested.

In This Role You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years property and casualty insurance experience including a minimum of one year experience managing claims OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Michigan no-fault laws is highly preferred.
  • Active Property and Casualty insurance license or ability to obtain within 100 days of employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings, conferences, or other business-related functions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
