Job description

Reports to: Head of Content Location: London, Paddington Role Type: Fixed Term Contract- 1 Year

A bit about us

121 Mining Investment connects mining companies with the investors who can help fund their growth through a global series of highly focused investment events.

Alongside our events, The Assay is our year-round mining investment content platform, bringing together news, analysis, interviews, podcasts and insights from across the mining and investment community.

We are building an increasingly connected content offering across 121 Mining Investment and The Assay, creating conversations that start well before our events and continue long after them.

A bit about you

You’re curious, organised and full of ideas. You have a strong instinct for what makes an interesting story or conversation and enjoy turning that into content people genuinely want to watch, read or listen to.

You’ll be equally comfortable researching a new topic, approaching a potential speaker, putting together a speaker briefing document or helping shape the next podcast episode.

You don’t need to arrive as a mining expert. Experience or knowledge of mining, natural resources, finance or investment would be valuable, but curiosity and the ability to quickly get under the skin of a sector are just as important.

Most importantly, you’ll be a team player who is happy to get stuck in, take ownership and suggest new ways of doing things.

The bit about the role

Working closely with the Head of Content, the Content Producer will help deliver content across the 121 Mining Investment portfolio and The Assay.

It’s a varied role spanning live event programming, speaker recruitment and management, editorial content, newsletters, podcasts and video.

You’ll help us create compelling and relevant content for our audiences throughout the year, while ensuring our live event agendas bring together the people and conversations that matter to the global mining investment community.

You’ll also play an important role in building and managing an always-on content calendar, giving our marketing team a consistent pipeline of strong editorial, video and audio content to engage our community between events.

As part of your job, you’ll:

Live content & 121 Mining Investment

  • Work with the Head of Content to research, develop and deliver compelling agendas across our global 121 Mining Investment events.
  • Research the major trends, opportunities and debates shaping mining, commodities and investment and turn them into relevant session ideas.
  • Help identify and recruit high-quality speakers, including investors, mining executives, analysts, financiers and other industry experts.
  • Support the development of different live formats including panels, fireside chats, investor discussions, roundtables, workshops and breakout sessions.
  • Manage speaker administration from confirmation through to the event, including collecting biographies and headshots, maintaining speaker information, coordinating briefing calls and producing and distributing speaker briefs.
  • Liaise with speakers and moderators ahead of events to ensure they are properly briefed and sessions have a clear focus.
  • Keep agendas, speaker trackers and programme information accurate and up to date.
  • Work with marketing, operations and other teams to ensure programme information and speaker assets are delivered to deadline.
  • Support the onsite delivery of content, looking after speakers and helping ensure sessions run smoothly.

The Assay & year-round content

  • Help drive the editorial output of The Assay across written, video and audio content.
  • Research and identify timely stories, themes and industry developments that our mining and investment audience should be talking about.
  • Source contributors and interviewees from across the mining and investment community.
  • Write, commission and edit articles, interviews and other editorial content.
  • Support the production of The Assay newsletter, helping identify the strongest stories and content for each edition.
  • Help develop and produce The Assay Podcast, including identifying topics and guests, researching episodes, preparing briefs and supporting recordings.
  • Identify opportunities to turn event content into year-round digital content and vice versa.
  • Help build and maintain an always-on editorial calendar across The Assay, 121 events, newsletters, podcasts, video and other formats.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure there is a strong and consistent pipeline of content that can be used across email, web and social channels.
  • Look for new formats, contributors and ideas that can grow engagement with The Assay and the wider 121 Mining Investment community.

Here’s what we’re looking for from you

  • Experience in content production, conference production, journalism, editorial, communications or a related role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research skills and genuine curiosity about business, markets and the world around you.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple speakers, deadlines and projects at once.
  • Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders and building relationships with contributors and speakers.
  • An understanding of what makes content engaging across different formats, from a live panel or breakout discussion to an article, podcast or video.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to get stuck in wherever needed.
  • Confidence bringing forward new ideas rather than simply waiting for a brief.
  • Mining, natural resources, finance or investment experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.
  • Experience producing podcasts, newsletters, editorial or video content would also be an advantage.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who is curious, creative and dependable – someone who wants to become part of the mining investment community, build relationships within it and help us find new and interesting ways to tell its stories.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
