- Investigate sources of qubit decoherence, particularly TLS and materials-related loss.
- Design and perform cryogenic measurements of qubits, resonators, and TLS.
- Develop techniques to identify and characterize TLS and their impact on qubit performance.
- Correlate device performance with materials, fabrication processes, and device design.
- Develop and validate strategies to improve qubit coherence and device yield.
- Collaborate across device design, fabrication, and quantum hardware teams.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience with superconducting qubits, cryogenic measurements, or microwave quantum devices.
- Strong understanding of superconducting qubit physics and decoherence mechanisms.
- Experience designing experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting complex measurements.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience studying two-level systems (TLS) and their impact on qubit coherence.
- Experience with qubit and resonator spectroscopy, including TLS spectroscopy and avoided crossings.
- Experience with superconducting materials, interfaces, Josephson junctions, or qubit fabrication.
- Experience with dilution refrigerators and microwave measurement systems.
- Experience connecting device performance to materials, fabrication processes, or device design.
