As a Senior AWS Cloud Full Stack Developer at IBM, you will design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable cloud-native applications for UK public sector clients. • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps processes.
  • Apply secure coding practices, IAM controls, encryption, and monitoring to meet public sector security and compliance requirements.
  • Design and integrate REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimise application performance, resilience, and cloud costs.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, security specialists, and stakeholders to deliver business-aligned solutions.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Active UK Government eSC or eDV security clearance, as required by the client.
  • Strong experience in full-stack software development and AWS cloud engineering.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Java, or Python.
  • Experience with AWS architecture, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, APIs, and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, DevSecOps, automated testing, and production support.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience delivering secure, enterprise-grade solutions within Agile environments.

Experience supporting UK Government or other public sector clients, AWS certifications, and knowledge of government security and accessibility standards would be advantageous.

  • Proven experience developing full-stack applications using modern technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, Java, or Python.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in AWS cloud services, architecture, deployment, and application modernisation.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, containerisation, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience implementing cloud security controls, IAM, encryption, secrets management, logging, and monitoring.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimise application performance, scalability, resilience, and cost.
  • Experience working in Agile teams, conducting code reviews, and applying software engineering best practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to deliver secure solutions for UK public sector clients.
  • Active UK Government eSC or eDV security clearance, in line with the specific client requirement.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
