At IBM Consulting UK FutureNow, you’ll build a career at the forefront of hybrid cloud and AI, working with leading clients across the public and private sectors.

You’ll collaborate with top industry professionals, gain hands on experience with cutting edge technologies, and deliver solutions that create real business impact. From day one, you’ll work on meaningful, high profile programmes that stretch your skills and accelerate your growth.

We invest heavily in you—supporting continuous learning, in demand skills development, and long term career progression. You’ll thrive in a flexible, inclusive environment that values curiosity, encourages reinvention, and recognises what makes you unique.

We offer:

  • Tools and policies to support your work-life balance from flexible working approaches, sabbatical programs, paid paternity leave, maternity leave and an innovative maternity returners scheme
  • More traditional benefits, such as 25 days holiday (in addition to public holidays), private medical, dental & optical cover, online shopping discounts, an Employee Assistance Program, life assurance and a group pension plan through salary sacrifice.

As a ServiceNow Developer at IBM, you will contribute to the delivery of ServiceNow solutions across UK public-sector programmes. Working with government departments and public-sector organisations, you will develop and configure secure, scalable and maintainable ServiceNow solutions that meet business requirements and align with platform best practice.

You will work closely with ServiceNow consultants, architects, developers, project managers and client stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle, supporting solution design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing platform enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate functional and technical requirements into robust ServiceNow solutions and development tasks.
  • Develop and configure ServiceNow applications, workflows, automation, integrations and platform functionality.
  • Develop using JavaScript, Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Actions, UI Policies, ACLs and Flow Designer.
  • Develop and support REST/SOAP integrations, APIs and IntegrationHub solutions.
  • Configure and develop custom and scoped applications, including tables, forms, data models and reusable components.
  • Work with architects and senior developers to deliver scalable, maintainable and upgrade-safe solutions.
  • Follow a configuration-first approach, minimising unnecessary customisation and adhering to ServiceNow development best practices.
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
  • Support deployment, release management, post-go-live enhancements and ServiceNow upgrades.
  • Participate in Agile delivery activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, development, testing, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve issues.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and contribute to knowledge transfer.
  • Support continuous improvement, automation and platform optimisation initiatives.
  • Ensure development activities comply with IBM, client and UK public-sector security, governance and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and comply with UK SC Security Clearance requirements when working on sensitive public-sector programmes.
  • Proven experience as a ServiceNow Developer delivering ServiceNow implementations, enhancements and support.
  • Hands-on development experience across Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Policies, UI Actions, ACLs, Notifications and Scheduled Jobs.
  • Good JavaScript development skills, including server-side and client-side scripting within ServiceNow.
  • Experience with Flow Designer, Workflow, IntegrationHub and ServiceNow automation.
  • Experience developing REST/SOAP integrations, APIs and integration solutions.
  • Experience developing custom and scoped applications, including tables, forms, data models and reusable components.
  • Understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture, security and development best practices.
  • Experience with Update Sets, Source Control and Automated Test Framework (ATF).
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug and resolve ServiceNow development issues.
  • Understanding of configuration-first and upgrade-safe development, minimising unnecessary customisation.
  • Experience working within Agile/DevOps delivery environments, including sprint planning, development, testing and deployment.
  • Ability to translate functional and technical requirements into scalable and maintainable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with architects, consultants, developers and client stakeholders.
  • Understanding of UK public-sector security, governance and compliance requirements.
  • UK SC Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearance for sensitive public-sector programmes.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems, using REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub and out-of-the-box integration capabilities.
  • Experience developing and optimising Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Actions and Flow Designer solutions.
  • Experience with custom/scoped application development, data modelling, APIs and reusable components.
  • Experience optimising workflows, dashboards, reports and platform performance using ServiceNow best practices.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
