The posting
A career in IBM Consulting is built on long-term client relationships and close collaboration worldwide. You’ll work with leading companies across industries, helping them shape their hybrid cloud and AI journeys. With support from our strategic partners, robust IBM technology, and Red Hat, you’ll have the tools to drive meaningful change and accelerate client impact. At IBM Consulting, curiosity fuels success. You’ll be encouraged to challenge the norm, explore new ideas, and create innovative solutions that deliver real results. Our culture of growth and empathy focuses on your long-term career development while valuing your unique skills and experiences.
As Solution Architect, you will own the end-to-end design of customer connection and portal platforms for a major energy network business. You'll shape solutions across Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Azure and MuleSoft. You'll also take them through enterprise architecture governance and keep delivery true to the endorsed design from build through to handover.
Working with project managers, business owners, enterprise architects and onshore and offshore build teams, you'll be responsible for:
- Solution Design and Governance: Producing the solution brief and solution architecture through to as-built, keeping the assumptions, constraints, risks and decisions registers current, and presenting ADRs and options papers to the Architecture Review Board for endorsement
- Integration Architecture: Designing API-led integration across experience, process and system layers, and picking the right mix of synchronous, batch and event-driven patterns for each interface
- Platform Trade-offs: Assessing Dataverse capacity and file limits, Power Pages versus custom front ends, and Azure hosting options, then making a clear recommendation
- Identity and Access: Designing external user access on Entra External ID, including migration from Azure AD B2C, tiered access and organisation and contractor entitlement models
- Data Migration: Designing migration, reconciliation and in-flight cut-over approaches between core systems and Dataverse
- Approvals and Assurance: Working with cyber, privacy, data and AI governance reviewers to get designs approved, and running design conformance and technical debt reviews during build
- Estimation and Handover: Giving architecture input to estimates and fixed price proposals, and preparing runbooks, interface catalogues and known limitations for the support team
You'll work across several programs running at the same time. These include a customer portal consolidation, a large squad-based connections automation program, and the handover of a live land development platform. Many design decisions cut across programs, so you'll need to think at portfolio level as well as project level.
