The posting

About Us

Icarus Robotics is building the robotic workforce for space industrialization. Our dexterous robots are teleoperated from Earth to take over routine tasks inside space stations, cutting operational costs and freeing astronauts for work only humans can do.

We’ve raised over $12M from top-tier deep tech and space investors. Our engineers work directly with NASA and leading aerospace companies, and we’ve partnered with commercial LEO destinations that will host our robots on future stations. Our first ISS mission is next.

We believe in an industrialized low-Earth orbit this decade, and we’re making it happen.

The Role

You’ll own electrical subsystems across the robot: boards, onboard compute, power, and harnessing. The role is generalist, with a focus on board design and avionics, and suits an engineer who has already shipped hardware and wants broad ownership. You will put a robot in space.

What You’ll Do

  • Own PCB design end to end: schematic, layout, bring-up, validation, and flight qualification.
  • Architect the robot’s avionics and onboard compute
  • Design power distribution and integrate battery systems.
  • Design and build harnesses for the robot and our test infrastructure.
  • Select and integrate COTS electronics: sensors, compute, motor drivers, and more.
  • Contribute to firmware, test tooling, and hardware safety systems.
  • Work with mechanical, software, and controls teams to integrate the robot and keep it running.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of professional hardware experience, beyond internships.
  • PCB design experience through to production or deployed hardware (Altium, KiCad, or similar).
  • Embedded systems experience with MCUs and/or Linux compute (STM32, Jetson, or similar).
  • Strong power electronics fundamentals.
  • Harness design and build experience.
  • C/C++ or Python.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Spaceflight, aviation, defense, medical, or other safety-critical hardware experience.
  • Embedded firmware and real-time systems.
  • Li-ion battery safety and certification.
  • Environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI).
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers.

What We Offer

  • Generous equity as an early team member.
  • Competitive salary: $120,000–$180,000, depending on experience and seniority.
  • Comprehensive healthcare and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision.
  • A monthly lifestyle spending account through Joon - use it for gym memberships, fitness classes, wellness, and more.
  • Access to cutting-edge tools and hardware, and the freedom to move fast.
  • A key role in shaping the future of in-space robotics and orbital manufacturing.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with top-tier investors, NASA teams, and leading space companies.
  • Citibike Membership.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
