The posting

Manager, Capital Projects Location: Feversham/Shelburne, Ontario, with frequent travel across CanadaEmployment Type: Full-Time, PermanentSalary: $160,000-180,000 per year + bonus

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Manager, Capital Projects to lead the planning and execution of industrial equipment installations, facility upgrades, plant modifications and capital projects across our Canadian operations.

This is a technical project leadership role for someone who combines strong capital project management with practical mechanical and industrial experience. You will manage multiple projects from initial site assessment and planning through procurement, installation, commissioning, operational handover and closeout, while providing day-to-day direction and technical support to the project team.

This is not a desk-based project management position. The successful candidate will be regularly present on the plant floor and at project sites, working closely with millwrights, electricians, automation technicians, contractors, equipment suppliers and plant maintenance teams. You must have enough practical mechanical experience to understand how industrial equipment is installed, identify and troubleshoot issues, challenge recommendations when necessary, and effectively direct installation and commissioning activities.

The role will be based primarily in the Feversham/Shelburne, Ontario area, with frequent travel to our facilities across Canada. Extended stays at project locations may be required during major installations, equipment relocations, shutdowns and start-ups.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead multiple capital projects from initial concept and site assessment through installation, commissioning, handover and closeout. Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, cost estimates, schedules, priorities and implementation plans. Provide day-to-day leadership, planning and direction to the project team, ensuring resources are effectively utilized and projects remain on schedule. Lead industrial equipment installations, relocations, replacements and modifications from both a planning and field-execution perspective. Coordinate equipment delivery, rigging, placement, mechanical and electrical connections, testing, commissioning and production start-up. Work closely with millwrights, electricians, automation technicians, contractors, equipment suppliers and plant maintenance teams to resolve technical and execution issues. Apply practical mechanical knowledge to equipment troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and installation and start-up challenges. Plan and coordinate plant shutdowns, equipment relocations and major installation activities. Manage project budgets, forecasts, purchase commitments, contractor costs, schedules and change orders. Maintain accountability for project scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety and operational readiness. Review completed work to ensure installations meet equipment specifications, operational requirements, maintenance needs, safety standards and quality expectations. Coordinate commissioning and operational handover, including documentation, training, spare parts and preventive maintenance requirements. Build strong working relationships with Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers and Operations teams, ensuring project activities are clearly communicated and coordinated around plant requirements. Balance multiple concurrent projects and adjust priorities as business needs and project requirements change. Travel regularly to company facilities across Canada and remain on-site during critical stages of installations, shutdowns and start-ups. Support evening, overnight and weekend project work when required.

What You Bring

A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong experience leading industrial capital projects, equipment installations, relocations, commissioning and start-up activities. A strong practical foundation in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, skilled trades and/or equipment installation, developed through hands-on experience during your career. Previous experience in a Millwright, Maintenance, Mechanical, Equipment Installation or similarly technical role is strongly preferred. A 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence is a strong asset; equivalent practical mechanical experience will also be considered. Strong practical knowledge of industrial machinery and mechanical systems, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, hydraulics, pneumatics, piping, utilities and material-handling equipment. Experience leading or supervising project teams, skilled trades, contractors and other technical professionals. Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and balancing competing priorities, schedules and resources. Experience managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, contractors, vendors and change orders. Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities. Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings, layouts, specifications and technical documentation. Knowledge of industrial safety, machine guarding, lockout/tagout and applicable mechanical requirements. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with Operations and Maintenance leadership. A structured, organized approach combined with the flexibility to adapt quickly when project or operational priorities change. Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently throughout Canada, including extended stays when required. Flexibility to support project work outside regular business hours during critical installations, shutdowns and start-ups. Experience with high-speed automated manufacturing, packaging, plastics, blow moulding, injection moulding, automotive or other precision industrial equipment is considered an asset.

What We’re Looking For

You are a technically credible project leader who understands industrial equipment because you have spent meaningful time working with it. You can develop a project plan and budget, walk onto an active installation and understand what is happening, ask the right questions, challenge a vendor or contractor when necessary, and provide clear direction when issues arise. You bring structure to complex work. You can prioritize multiple projects, set clear expectations for your team and keep execution moving, while remaining flexible when business priorities change. Just as importantly, you understand that capital projects happen within operating plants. You communicate openly with Operations and Maintenance, consider the impact project work will have on production, and build collaborative relationships with the teams responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment after handover.

Compensation & Work Environment

Salary: $160,000-180,000 per year Bonus eligibility Full-time, permanent position Primarily based in the Feversham/Shelburne, Ontario area, with regular presence at project and plant locations Frequent travel to company locations across Canada Extended stays at project locations may be required during major installations, shutdowns and commissioning activities

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
