The posting

Our Release Engineering team is looking for an Engineer whose primary focus is administering and maintaining our Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud environments, including driving the ongoing migration from Data Center to Cloud. The role also applies broader DevOps and site reliability practices to support the infrastructure and tooling that keeps our systems reliable, secure, and performant.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud environments, including projects, workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, and automation
  • Plan and execute Jira upgrades end to end: pre-upgrade validation, non-prod testing, production rollout, and post-upgrade verification
  • Maintain the Jira application infrastructure (application nodes, database, load balancer, file system, indexing) and keep it stable, secure, and performant
  • Develop and maintain ScriptRunner scripts, listeners, post functions, behaviours, and jobs
  • Perform Linux-based upgrades and maintenance for Jira: service management, JVM tuning, patching, log analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Support the Jira Data Center to Cloud migration: assessment, app compatibility review, data cleanup, migration execution, and cutover
  • Monitor system health, resolve incidents, and perform root cause analysis
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and change records
  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations across the broader DevOps toolset, and troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
  • Assist with Continuous Integration and Continual Deployment (CI/CD) processes and mentor teams to help improve their release practices
  • Collaborate with development and release teams to improve services through rigorous testing
  • Research and understand emerging technologies, tools, platforms, and frameworks relevant to Jira and the wider DevOps toolchain
  • Perform other duties as required

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in systems administration, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and/or development, required
  • Strong hands-on experience with Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud administration
  • Proven experience with the ScriptRunner plugin (Groovy scripting)
  • Experience performing Jira upgrades on Linux environments
  • Solid understanding of Jira architecture: clustering, database (PostgreSQL/Oracle), indexing, and performance tuning
  • Ability to troubleshoot application, plugin, and infrastructure issues
  • Experience with a programming/scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, Java, C#, Ruby, etc.
  • Knowledge of source code control tools such as Git (GitLab, GitHub, BitBucket)
  • Experience in Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux / RHEL) and/or Windows operating system
  • Good communication skills and comfort working with distributed teams

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience or working knowledge of Jira Cloud migration (JCMA, Atlassian Cloud Migration tools) – a strong plus, as we are currently in a migration phase
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, shell scripting, and Python
  • Atlassian certifications (ACP)
  • Familiarity in cloud computing, storage, and hosting functionality
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting and incident response tools, and performing root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with Agile best practices
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with focus on timeliness, documentation, and communications with peers and business users alike

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
