The posting

Provide hands-on L2 support for business-critical banking applications. The role owns production incident investigation, service recovery, technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and operational stability across open-system and legacy application stacks.

The successful candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting across Linux/Unix, Java applications, databases, APIs, MQ,batch processing, network/connectivity, SSL/TLS, COBOL and CICS environments, where available. COBOL and CICS experience is preferred rather than mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support & Incident Management

  • Provide L2 support for critical production applications, interfaces and scheduled processing.
  • Investigate production incidents, transaction failures, application errors and degraded services.
  • Analyse system, application and interface logs to identify the failure point and affected flow.
  • Assess business impact and coordinate timely, controlled service recovery.
  • Execute or coordinate restart, rerun, job recovery, transaction recovery and approved workarounds.
  • Escalate to L3 development, infrastructure, middleware, database teams or vendors with clear technical evidence.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and permanent remediation for recurring issues.

Technical Troubleshooting

  • Trace transactions end to end across channels, APIs, applications, Java/COBOL components, CICS/MQ, databases and downstream systems.
  • Determine whether a problem originates from the application, configuration, database, middleware, scheduler, network, infrastructure or dependent system.
  • Correlate timestamps, transaction IDs, request IDs, logs and system events to reconstruct the processing flow.
  • Perform Linux/Unix, SQL, connectivity, certificate and application health checks.

Operational Support

  • Monitor application health, interfaces, queues and batch processing.
  • Support scheduled and ad-hoc production activities, deployments and post-deployment validation.
  • Maintain runbooks, recovery procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify recurring incidents and recommend monitoring, automation or permanent fixes.
  • Participate in production support coverage and escalation as required.
