The posting
We are seeking to hire four (4) Product Development Scientists to join our Assay Dx R&D non-infectious Product Development team at our corporate headquarters in Westbrook, ME. These are full-time, on-site roles. You will apply bench-level scientific expertise and a systems engineering mindset to help develop new products, blending computational analysis with hands-on experimental work to support assay design, performance characterization, and data-driven decision making. Our team develops new additions to our in-house and reference laboratory assay testing technologies and partners closely with cross-functional colleagues to bring products from concept to launch.
Why this role matters:
You will be part of a technical team that brings new products from concept to launch. Working alongside scientists and engineers from a range of disciplines, you will support the design, development, and characterization of new assay products that expand our in-house and reference laboratory testing offerings. Your work will help shape the products our customers rely on.
In this role, you will:
- Participate in the design and execution of laboratory studies to characterize assay performance
- Apply foundational statistical techniques to analyze and interpret experimental data
- Create clear data visualizations and summaries that communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Break complex systems into subsystems with well-defined interfaces, and verify that they work together as a whole, not just individually
- Partner with cross-functional teams and use sound scientific judgment to guide decisions
What you need to succeed:
- A bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in bioengineering or a related field is required
- Laboratory bench skills (e.g., accurate pipetting, reagent and buffer preparation, microplate-based assays), instrumentation skills, and safe laboratory practices are required.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills are required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting and discussing data at team meetings, are required
- Experience with statistical software such as JMP
- Hands-on experience with ELISA and other immunoassay techniques is preferred
- Experience with diagnostic testing and instrumentation is preferred
- Adaptability and the ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative, own results, and maintain strong attention to detail is required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize work in line with defined timelines, resolve conflicts, and facilitate solutions are required.
- Occasional travel may be required
What you can expect from us:
- Salary range starting at $80,000 based on experience
- Opportunity for annual cash bonus
- Health / Dental / Vision Benefits Day-One
- 5% matching 401k
- Additional benefits including but not limited to financial support, pet insurance, mental health resources, volunteer paid days off, employee stock program, foundation donation matching, and much more
