Your Day to Day

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Laundry Department, ensuring that all hotel and guest linen, uniforms, and clothing are cleaned, processed, and handled efficiently in accordance with the hotel's quality and hygiene standards. The role involves assisting washers, pressers, and other laundry colleagues, maintaining laundry equipment and work areas, and ensuring timely delivery of clean linen and garments to support smooth hotel operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of the Laundry Department to ensure efficient and timely laundry services.
  • Sort hotel linen, guest clothing, and colleague uniforms according to fabric type, color, and washing requirements.
  • Assist in loading and unloading washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Transfer linen and garments between washing, drying, pressing, and finishing areas to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Feed linen into flatwork ironers and assist with pressing, folding, and organizing clean linen and garments.
  • Ensure the correct use and measurement of laundry chemicals and detergents in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor washing and drying processes, ensuring appropriate temperatures, pressure, water levels, and machine settings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry equipment, workstations, and storage areas at all times.
  • Inspect linen and garments for stains, damage, or defects and report any concerns to the Laundry Supervisor.
  • Ensure proper handling and care of hotel linen, guest clothing, and colleague uniforms to prevent damage or loss.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate linen supplies and ensuring clean items are properly sorted, folded, and stored.
  • Follow established laundry procedures to ensure consistent quality, hygiene, and operational efficiency.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, and safety hazards promptly to the Laundry Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, fire safety, and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Handle laundry chemicals, machinery, and equipment safely, following established safety guidelines.
  • Support colleagues during busy operational periods to ensure laundry requirements are completed on time.
  • Maintain high standards of personal grooming, professional conduct, and teamwork.
  • Participate actively in departmental training and development programs to enhance skills and service quality.
  • Contribute to the hotel's sustainability initiatives by ensuring efficient use of water, energy, and laundry supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel standards, company policies, and applicable labor and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Laundry Supervisor, Laundry Manager, or Executive Housekeeper to support departmental objectives and overall hotel operations.

What We Are Looking For

  • High school education or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a laundry operation, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment, is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of laundry procedures, washing techniques, and garment care.
  • Familiarity with laundry equipment, including washing machines, dryers, pressing machines, and flatwork ironers, is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of laundry chemicals, detergents, and safe handling procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established operational procedures accurately.
  • Good attention to detail to ensure proper cleaning, handling, and presentation of linen and garments.
  • Basic communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Good teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward supporting colleagues and departmental operations.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene, health and safety, and workplace cleanliness standards.
  • Physically capable of performing laundry duties, including standing for extended periods and handling laundry loads safely.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and commitment to maintaining hotel standards.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in training and development opportunities.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
