What You’ll Do

Interns at IMA are a big deal! We understand how important choosing an internship is and how a positive experience can help launch your career. Our program offers opportunities to experience our culture, connect with senior leaders and industry experts, contribute to meaningful projects, and learn alongside an engaging cohort of peers.

Your summer will combine programming shared with the full intern cohort and hands-on work within your department. Through learning sessions, networking opportunities, and real business projects, you’ll gain a practical understanding of IMA and the insurance industry.

Our New York team is seeking a Sales Management Intern for Summer 2027 to support sales operations and market initiatives. Working with our Executive Operations Officer and sales leadership, you’ll gain exposure to how we track business development activity, support producers, and turn information into actionable insights.

This position will be based in our New York City office, with four days in the office and one day remote each week.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support sales reporting and analysis by organizing pipeline information, tracking producer activity, and helping prepare summaries of progress toward sales goals.
  • Help prepare sales meetings by developing agendas, updating presentation materials, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Assist with our Associate Producer program, including activity tracking, meeting coordination, and training initiatives.
  • Conduct prospect, industry, and market research to support business development efforts.
  • Help maintain accurate CRM information and identify opportunities to improve data quality and reporting.
  • Contribute to sales operations projects that improve workflows, organization, and communication.
  • Participate in shadowing and networking opportunities with producers, market leaders, and colleagues across departments to learn how IMA serves clients and grows its business.

We view our internship program as an important talent pipeline and are proud that many former interns have joined IMA after graduation. Preference is given to students approaching graduation who are curious about a future career in insurance, sales, or business operations.

You Should Have

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field.
  • An interest in sales operations, business development, analytics, or the insurance industry.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and collaborate.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with an interest in using data to identify trends and communicate findings.
  • Initiative, curiosity, and the ability to think critically and contribute ideas.
  • Previous work, internship, campus leadership, or relevant project experience preferred.

We’re proud of the success many of our former interns have had when they’ve pursued careers as IMA associates’ post-graduation and see our internship program as a key talent pipeline. Because of this, preference is given to students closer to graduation, who demonstrate a curiosity about future employment within our industry.

You Should Have:

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a program related to one of our host departments (Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management and Insurance)
  • Interest in insurance-related roles; involvement in insurance clubs or Gamma Iota Sigma
  • Students anticipated to graduate in Spring 2027, December 2027, or Spring 2028
  • Previous work or internship experience in a professional services or similar environment
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and provide creative solutions

Compensation:

This position is classified as nonexempt and is paid on an hourly basis. The hourly pay range for IMA interns is 18.00 to 22.00 dollars and is determined by your expected graduating year. You will be paid for all hours worked and will be eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and state wage and hour laws.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
