Job Description

Inspire Precision and Quality in the Next Generation of Technicians

Are you passionate about accuracy, quality assurance, and empowering others through hands-on learning? Indian River State College is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Metrology & Inspection Facilitator to guide students through the principles of dimensional measurement and inspection technologies. In this dynamic role, you'll bring metrology to life—teaching students how to master precision tools, operate cutting-edge equipment like Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), and apply international quality standards to real-world manufacturing challenges.

If you're excited about shaping future technicians who value quality and detail, we invite you to bring your expertise to our high-tech classrooms and labs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, this position is responsible for teaching and training students the principles and practices of dimensional measurement, quality assurance, and inspection technologies. Deliver theoretical and hands-on instruction covering traditional and advanced measurement methods, including the use of calipers, micrometers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), optical comparators, and non-contact inspection tools. Prepare students for quality control careers in manufacturing, engineering, and related industries by emphasizing precision, standards compliance, and data analysis.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction & Training, 45%

Deliver theoretical and practical lessons on precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates, gauge blocks, and dial indicators. Conduct practical labs where students perform dimensional measurements, geometric tolerancing checks (GD&T), and quality assurance tasks. Supervise students in the proper calibration, maintenance, and care of metrology equipment. Provide instruction on operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), optical comparators, laser scanners, and other advanced inspection equipment. Teach students about international standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, ANSI) related to metrology and quality assurance. Emphasize adherence to inspection protocols, traceability, and quality documentation practices.

Lab Supervision

Oversee students in a hands-on lab environment, guiding them through the use of miscellaneous measurements and inspection equipment safely. Ensure all instructional activities comply with lab safety regulations and quality control procedures. Maintain the calibration and operational readiness of all instructional metrology and inspection equipment. Maintain tools and machinery and ensure they are in good working condition. Enforce safety protocols and OSHA regulations to minimize risk and accidents.

Curriculum Development

Design, update, and deliver course content on fundamental and advanced metrology and inspection techniques to ensure they align with industry standards and technological advancements. Ensure instructional materials meet educational goals and prepare students for certifications and workforce readiness.

Student Assessment

Evaluate and assess students’ skills, providing feedback to help improve their performance and technical competencies. Administer written, oral, and hands-on tests to gauge student proficiency. Support students in achieving certifications, where applicable.

Industry Engagement

Maintain industry connections to stay current with trends and technological advancements in general fabrication and advanced manufacturing. Liaise with local businesses and industries to ensure the training aligns with current job market needs.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
