The posting

We are seeking a Payroll lead to own the financial side of payroll across all inVision companies, turning HR data into accurate payroll calculations, a reliable budget and clear insights for leadership. The role combines payroll budgeting and financial modeling with hands-on payroll execution, tax management across jurisdictions and close cooperation with HR, accounting and external payroll providers. It is critical to keeping payroll costs transparent, compliant and under control as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

1. Payroll Planning and Budgeting

  • Build the payroll budgeting process (salaries, bonuses, contributions) across all inVision companies.
  • Create and maintain a strategic, automated payroll financial model in Google Sheets.
  • Prepare the payroll budget for the financial period and update it based on data provided by HR.
  • Calculate the full cost of positions: monthly gross, employer taxes and contributions, annual bonus, currency. Check each position against the payroll limit.
  • Prepare the payroll budget and submit it for approval to the CFO and the Director.

2. Payroll Tax Burden

  • Maintain and update tax conditions for key inVision jurisdictions: tax and social contribution rates, caps, thresholds and payment deadlines (together with local advisors).
  • Calculate employer and employee tax burden for each jurisdiction for the payroll budget and position costing.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation, assess their impact on the payroll budget and update the financial model on time.
  • Plan payroll tax and social contribution payments in the budget in line with payment deadlines.
  • Analyze payroll tax risks.

3. Financial Control

  • Enter changes provided by HR into the financial model and keep the data up to date.
  • Check new positions and changes against the payroll budget and limits.

4. Monthly Payroll Cycle

  • Calculate salaries, taxes and contributions in Kazakhstan based on HR documents and events (hiring, terminations, vacations, sick leave, timesheets).
  • Calculate payments to other individuals in Kazakhstan (civil-law contracts, student payments).
  • Calculate and pay taxes and contributions for employees and individuals in Kazakhstan.
  • Prepare and submit tax and contribution reports in Kazakhstan. In other jurisdictions, review and control them together with local advisors.
  • Prepare payment registers and organize salary payments.
  • Prepare accounting entries and reconcile payroll with the general ledger monthly.
  • Calculate final settlements on termination based on HR data.

5. Financial Assessment of Compensation Changes

  • Calculate the payroll budget impact of compensation changes (raises, indexations, transfers) approved and provided by HR.
  • Assess requests that exceed department limits for review by the CFO and the Director.
  • Calculate the bonus pool, book accruals and process bonus payments based on HR data.
  • Reallocate payroll limits between departments and legal entities within the approved budget.

6. Control and Analytics

  • Run plan-vs-actual analysis and rolling forecasts for payroll.
  • Prepare management analysis and payroll reports for leadership.

7. Methodology and Development

  • Develop and maintain policies and control procedures for the financial part of the payroll process.
  • Work with HR, accounting, banks, external payroll providers and auditors on financial payroll matters.
  • Take part in automation and ERP system development for payroll.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements

  • Degree in Economics or Finance. Certifications in payroll, taxation or accounting are a plus.
  • At least 4–5 years of experience in payroll, tax and contribution calculations and/or payroll budget planning. Experience in other jurisdictions is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating external payroll providers and cross-functional processes (HR, accounting, finance).
  • Strong knowledge of labor and tax legislation related to payroll, taxes and social contributions (Kazakhstan is required; other jurisdictions where we operate are a plus).
  • Experience building financial models and budgets.
  • Experience with the full payroll cycle in Kazakhstan: calculation, reporting to social funds, payments, accounting entries and reconciliation.
  • Experience with payroll, HR and accounting/ERP systems (1C:ZUP or similar) and master data management.
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, models, formulas) and financial analysis skills.
  • English at C1 level or higher.

Key Competencies

  1. Attention to detail and accuracy. Error-free work with large volumes of calculations and personal data.
  2. Confidentiality and ethics. Strict confidentiality of employee compensation information.
  3. Analytical thinking. Ability to explain variances and turn numbers into insights for leadership.
  4. Cross-functional communication. Constructive work with HR, department heads and the CFO; ability to defend budget limits with clear arguments.
  5. Ownership and meeting deadlines. Strict adherence to payroll calendar and tax reporting deadlines.
  6. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-changing environment. Ability to respond quickly to shifting project priorities and reflect changes in payroll records.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
