As the Senior Revenue Accountant, you will serve as the primary owner of revenue accounting and customer billing operations for a fast-growing, private equity-backed SaaS organization. This position reports to the Controller and will work closely with leadership to support process improvements, NetSuite optimization initiatives, acquisition integrations, audit readiness, and the continued scaling of the accounting function. The role will be responsible for client invoicing, accounts receivable management, collections, revenue recognition, deferred revenue accounting, and ASC 606 compliance. The Senior Revenue Accountant will partner closely with Client Success, Operations, Finance, and the accounting team to coordinate revenue accounting activities. While this position does not have direct supervisory responsibility, it is expected to provide day-to-day work direction, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise to accounting team members in the areas of billing, collections, and revenue recognition. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example and combining hands-on execution with the ability to guide and coach others. We are unified around a virtual-first culture centered on teamwork, relentless focus on client outcomes, and individual accountability.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the end-to-end client invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including customer account maintenance, aging review, collection efforts, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor and report key revenue cycle metrics including DSO, collections effectiveness, unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, and billing accuracy.
  • Review client contracts and coordinate with Legal, Sales, and Operations to ensure proper revenue recognition treatment and billing setup in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Prepare and maintain revenue recognition schedules and deferred revenue reconciliations.
  • Calculate monthly revenue recognition entries and support month-end close activities related to revenue accounting.
  • Partner with Client Success and Operations to ensure accurate contract setup, billing, and revenue treatment.
  • Support integration of acquired entities and standardization of revenue recognition, billing, and collection processes.
  • Develop and improve revenue accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests related to revenue, accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, and deferred revenue.
  • Identify opportunities to automate billing, collections, and revenue accounting processes within NetSuite.
  • Coordinate and prioritize revenue-related work across the accounting team, serving as the primary resource for billing, collections, and revenue recognition questions.
  • Assist with monthly revenue forecasting, backlog analysis, and recurring revenue reporting.
  • Lead special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned by the Controller and CFO.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or lead accountant capacity.
  • SaaS industry experience required; private equity–backed company experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite experience required) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to apply it to practical, day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience applying ASC 606 guidance to complex SaaS and professional services contracts, variable consideration, contract modifications, and multi-element arrangements.
  • Experience managing SaaS billing and revenue recognition processes.
  • Experience with deferred and unbilled revenue accounting and contract review.
  • Proven success managing accounts receivable and collection processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, mentor, and coordinate the work of others without formal supervisory responsibility.

What would make you stand out?

  • Proven experience improving accounting processes while still performing daily transactional work.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members by working alongside them on deliverables.
  • Audit experience.
  • Experience with governmental clients including billing and reporting.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
