The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in automated warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments and possesses deep technical expertise in conveyor systems, PLC-controlled equipment, material handling technology, and building systems. This leader will manage a team of maintenance professionals, partner with vendors and contractors, and collaborate cross-functionally to support business objectives, optimize equipment performance, and minimize operational disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all maintenance activities for automated distribution systems, conveyors, material handling equipment, scanning systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors to achieve operational and safety goals.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Drive equipment reliability initiatives focused on reducing downtime and increasing throughput.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation-related issues.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, replacement, and optimization of conveyor systems and automated equipment.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers supporting maintenance operations and capital projects.
  • Develop labor, material, and project cost estimates for repairs, upgrades, and facility improvements.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to align maintenance priorities with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Analyze maintenance metrics, equipment performance data, and operational trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause problem-solving initiatives to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Oversee maintenance activities for HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and other critical facility systems.
  • Support facility planning, infrastructure improvements, and capital investment projects.
  • Identify and implement sustainability initiatives that reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Facilities Management, Operations Management, or a related technical field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years of maintenance, facilities, or reliability experience within a distribution center, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or automated operational environment.
  • Minimum 4 years of leadership experience managing maintenance technicians, supervisors, or technical teams.
  • Experience leading maintenance operations in highly automated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, automated material handling equipment, sortation systems, and related technologies.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, industrial controls, and electromechanical systems.
  • Proven success developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills involving complex equipment and operational issues.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, vendor relationships, and contractor services.
  • Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and facility infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze maintenance and operational data to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and respond to critical operational issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in large-scale automated distribution centers, fulfillment centers, e-commerce operations, or logistics environments.
  • Hands-on experience with conveyor controls, sortation systems, robotics, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), or advanced material handling technologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, Maximo, Fiix, or Maintenance Connection.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance technologies, and condition-based monitoring.
  • Experience leading capital projects, facility expansions, equipment installations, or automation upgrades.
  • Familiarity with energy management, sustainability initiatives, and environmental stewardship programs.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), or related maintenance and engineering credentials.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
