About Sygaldry

Sygaldry Technologies is building quantum-accelerated AI servers to exponentially speed up training and inference for AI. By integrating quantum and AI, we're accelerating the path to superintelligence, and addressing the problem of rising compute costs and energy bottlenecks. Sygaldry AI servers combine multiple qubit types within a single, fault-tolerant architecture to deliver the combination of cost, scale, and speed necessary for advanced AI applications. We pioneer new domains in physics, engineering, and AI, tackling the hardest challenges with a grounded, optimistic, and rigorous culture. We're looking for individuals ready to define the intersection of quantum and AI and drive its profound global impact.

About the Role:

Sygaldry Technologies is seeking an exceptional accounting leader to serve as our Assistant Controller / Controller. This is the first dedicated accounting hire and the number two in finance. You will own the accounting function day to day, including close, controls, systems, and audit, with real autonomy and direct exposure to the leadership team and board-facing work.

You're joining at a genuine inflection point, with the chance to architect the finance stack, building on the tools and processes already in place and introducing new ones as we scale. We recently completed our first external audit, and we are migrating off QuickBooks onto a modern GL platform. As the first dedicated accounting hire, you'll build the capacity, controls, and systems a growing, multi-entity hardware company needs: owning and administering the GL, establishing segregation of duties, running the close, handling cost, WIP, and fixed-asset accounting as we scale toward production, and growing into full ownership of the annual audit. With operations across multiple entities, locations, and currencies, the role carries real international and multi-entity scope.

We're looking for someone who spots when a system or process is holding the team back, makes the case for the change, and has the experience to implement it end to end.

Strong Accounting Managers ready to step up into this scope are encouraged to apply; title and level (Assistant Controller through Controller) are calibrated to experience.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Finance systems & administration — own and administer the GL and connected finance systems; complete the migration off QuickBooks, and proactively identify, propose, and implement system and process improvements as the company scales.
  • Cost, WIP & fixed-asset accounting — own inventory and work-in-process for our hardware builds and the fixed-asset subledger for lab and production equipment — capitalization, depreciation, and roll-forwards — scaling the approach as we move toward production.
  • Multi-entity & international accounting — own consolidation across our US and international entities, multi-currency accounting and FX, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing.
  • Controls & scalable process — establish segregation of duties and scalable controls across procure-to-pay, payroll, and journal entries as the finance team grows, partnering with the Head of Finance on the approval and authorization structure.
  • The monthly and quarterly close — run it end to end and drive the cadence toward a tight 4–5 business day close.
  • Audit — partner on our current audit and grow into full ownership of the annual audit: workpapers, PBC management, and the day-to-day auditor relationship.
  • Procurement & spend controls — serve as the accounting point of contact in our spend-management / procurement system, verifying that transactions are correctly coded and supported before they route for final approval and sync to the GL.
  • Core accounting operations — oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, and expense, managing the third-party bookkeeping partner who handles much of the day-to-day.
  • Routine technical accounting — apply GAAP to recurring areas independently, and partner with the Head of Finance on complex policy positions (R&E capitalization under §174, revenue recognition as commercialization approaches).
  • Reporting support — provide clean, reconciled actuals that feed monthly management reporting and board materials.

You May Be a Good Fit If You

  • Hands-on cost, WIP, inventory, and fixed-asset accounting in a manufacturing, hardware, or physical-product environment, including subledger ownership, capitalization, and depreciation.
  • Multi-entity, multi-location, and multi-currency experience, including consolidation and foreign-currency accounting.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full ownership of a close cycle.
  • CPA required.
  • System deployment and administration — you've led or been core to an ERP/GL implementation (NetSuite, Campfire, Rillet, or similar) and can administer one, with the initiative to spot a system or process gap, make the case, and drive the change.
  • Experience operating within a spend-management / procurement (P2P) system (e.g., Ramp, Zip, Airbase, Coupa).
  • Has been through external audits (Big Four or national firm) and can own the company side of one.
  • Comfortable in a lean, high-autonomy function, including hands-on with the technical work, and able to manage an outsourced bookkeeping partner rather than relying on a large in-house team.
  • Strong technical GAAP foundation and the judgment to know what to escalate.
  • Direct, low-ego communicator who prefers signal over ceremony.
  • Experience at a venture-backed startup that scaled toward or through an IPO.
  • Exposure to SOX / ITGC readiness or public-company reporting.
  • Deep tech, quantum, or advanced-hardware manufacturing experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
