The posting

Join Insitu’s Systems Engineering team and help shape the architecture and performance of our next-generation unmanned aviation systems. We are looking for a Systems Engineer who is excited to define concepts of operations, lead requirements development and decomposition, and orchestrate integration and verification across complex UAS platforms. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy working across disciplines, applying core systems engineering techniques to real-world aerospace challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive, high-performing solutions. The Senior Systems Engineer defines and leads the end‑to‑end systems engineering approach for complex aerospace and autonomous systems. This role is responsible for establishing concepts of operations, leading requirements development and decomposition, defining system architectures, and driving integration and verification across multiple engineering disciplines throughout the full product lifecycle. The Systems Engineer collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to shape customer requirements, manage technical risk, and ensure systems meet performance, quality, and schedule objectives. What you’ll do: Define systems concepts of operations to guide architecture, design, integration, and verification activities. Evaluate requirements decomposition to ensure completeness, consistency, and feasibility. Review and approve functional and physical block diagrams, including interface definitions between system elements. Establish and maintain vertical and horizontal requirements traceability standards. Validate verification methodologies and establish quality assurance standards for system and subsystem verification. Define and maintain system architectures. Review functional analyses and allocations to confirm that system functions are properly mapped to architecture and design. Lead integration activities across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring coherent system behavior and performance. Apply systems engineering techniques across the full development and product life cycle, from concept through test and evaluation. Ensure alignment of technical execution with schedule and program objectives. Evaluate and help shape customer requirements, constraints, and operational expectations into actionable system requirements. Define system design objectives and coordinate with program and product teams to ensure alignment with business and customer goals. Interact with senior external personnel and customers on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. Education & Experience: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry is required with 9+ years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7+ years in an engineering classification with a Master’s degree. Extensive technical expertise with full knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices. Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform requirements analysis, trade studies, and system performance assessments. Demonstrated engineering knowledge and comprehension across multiple disciplines relevant to aerospace and autonomous systems. Experience with air vehicle design, certification, and performance. Ability to establish test requirements, including defining verification and validation strategies. Hands‑on experience with flight test activities and associated reporting. Proven ability to lead integration activities and coordinate technical work across diverse teams. In-Office Requirement Statement: This position is eligible for hybrid work. It is our strong preference that this position is on-site 3 days per week to allow for maximum collaboration and connection to the team and product. However, depending on the candidate’s location, experience, and qualifications, we may have some flexibility in the frequency of on-site days. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
