The posting

Company Description

We are on the journey to transform our digital capabilities, bringing core business processes, people, data and technology together to enable IKEA to become an even better home furnishing retailer. This journey requires passionate people who embrace change, challenge the status quo and want to make a difference.

As part of Data & Engineering, we are establishing a new Data Enablement team with a mission to make it easy for coworkers, digital products and AI solutions to find, trust and consume data across IKEA.

The team will build a unified experience layer connecting platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Collibra, SAP, M3 and other enterprise systems. Together, we are creating the products, services and experiences that make trusted data easier to discover, understand and use across the organisation.

Job Description

As a Software Engineer in Data Enablement, you will help build the products and services that sit at the intersection of software engineering, data and user experience.

You will work on capabilities that help users navigate IKEA's data landscape, discover trusted data products, understand data through metadata and lineage, and access data through intuitive self-service experiences.

Working as part of a newly established product team, you will contribute to building a strategic platform that brings together data platforms, governance capabilities and enterprise systems into a seamless experience for consumers of data.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Design, build and operate software products, services and APIs that enable data discovery and consumption.
  • Develop integrations across platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Collibra, SAP, M3 and other enterprise systems.
  • Build capabilities that improve metadata visibility, data lineage, self-service access and trusted data consumption.
  • Create reusable platform services, automation and engineering tooling that simplify the user experience.
  • Contribute to modern engineering practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing and observability.
  • Partner closely with Data Engineers, Data Management specialists, architects and platform teams to create integrated solutions.
  • Help establish engineering standards, patterns and best practices within the team.
  • Continuously improve scalability, reliability, performance and usability across the platform.

This is not a traditional software engineering role.

You will be part of building a completely new capability that sits at the heart of IKEA's data, analytics and AI journey. Rather than developing a single application or supporting a specific business process, you will help create the products and experiences that thousands of coworkers and digital solutions rely on to find, trust and consume data.

You will work across a broad technology landscape, connecting modern cloud platforms, metadata solutions and enterprise systems into a unified experience. The challenges are complex, the impact is significant and the opportunity to influence both the product and the engineering culture is substantial.

Most importantly, you will help shape how data is used across IKEA for years to come.

Qualifications

We believe you are a curious and pragmatic software engineer who enjoys building products that simplify complex technology and create value for others.

To be successful in this role, you have:

  • Strong experience in software engineering and modern development practices.
  • Experience building applications, APIs, microservices or platform capabilities.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, TypeScript, Java, Go or similar.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automation, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, system integration and scalable software architecture.
  • Interest in data platforms, metadata, governance and developer experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for building products that enable others to succeed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
