The posting

The Advanced Quoting Tool Engineer focus will be on Primary Injection Molds and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing digital quoting tools, cost models, and automated processes that support the organization's quoting and business acquisition activities. This role partners closely with Sales, Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure quotes are accurate, competitive, data-driven, and aligned with company profitability objectives. The position serves as the technical expert for quoting systems and advanced cost modeling tools, driving continuous improvement, automation, and standardization across the quote development process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Quoting Systems & Technology

  • Administer, maintain, and enhance advanced quoting software, databases, and cost modeling tools.
  • Develop and implement automated quoting solutions to improve speed, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Create and maintain standardized quote templates, workflows, and reporting tools.
  • Support integration between quoting systems and ERP, manufacturing, engineering, and financial systems.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate corrective actions with IT and business stakeholders.

Cost Modeling & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain detailed product, process, and manufacturing cost models.
  • Analyze material, labor, overhead, tooling, capital, logistics, and supplier costs to support quote development.
  • Validate assumptions and ensure accuracy of costing methodologies.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario modeling to assess quoting risks and opportunities.
  • Support margin analysis and profitability reviews.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Program Management teams to gather quote inputs.
  • Facilitate quote reviews and ensure alignment of assumptions across functional areas.
  • Support launch and handoff activities following awarded business.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to quoting users and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline quoting processes and eliminate manual activities.
  • Develop dashboards, metrics, and reports to monitor quoting effectiveness and performance.
  • Drive standardization and best practices across all quoting activities.
  • Support implementation of AI, automation, digital manufacturing, and advanced analytics solutions within the quoting process.

Data & Reporting

  • Maintain quoting databases and historical cost information.
  • Generate management reports regarding quote status, win/loss analyses, profitability trends, and quoting performance metrics.
  • Support data governance and ensure integrity of quoting information.

Qualifications Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, product costing, engineering, operations, quoting, or related functions.
  • Experience with injection mold manufacturing cost models and quoting systems.
  • Experience supporting new business acquisition activities.
  • Familiarity with ERP and business intelligence tools.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of injection mold deigns and manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, SQL, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with quoting, ERP, PLM, or manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of automation, workflow tools, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Understanding of APQP, product development, and automotive launch processes.
