ABOUT US

Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. In 2016, IRC Germany was founded and engages in global humanitarian work as well as throughout Germany in the areas of education, economic wellbeing, and safety, legal protection, and empowerment.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role is situated within IRC's Mass Market Fundraising Team (MMDE), which is responsible for the acquisition, development and stewardship of individual donors in Germany, with the primary goal of maximizing the lifetime value of new and existing donors.

As Senior officer Fundraising development, you play a key role in planning and creating content and communications that inspire donations and promote an engaging donor experience. Your work focuses on strengthening donor engagement and increasing fundraising revenue. You will work across two connected pillars, namely content development and programme development, that together drive donor acquisition, retention and development for IRC Germany.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create engaging content for donor journeys and donor communications across digital acquisition, email, direct mail, and telemarketing to increase donations and donor engagement.
  • Support colleagues in the private market with audience-specific content, such as face-to-face pitches and website copy.
  • Work with colleagues in other national markets and the global support team to keep content aligned and share ideas.
  • Test and improve content and formats on an ongoing basis to raise income and impact with different audiences.
  • Analyse web and digital campaign performance across IRC Germany's fundraising efforts, and use the findings to guide content and testing decisions and give prospects and supporters a great digital experience.
  • Take responsibility for how your activity performs against agreed KPIs and income targets, and make sure campaign reports capture learnings for future activity.

YOUR PROFILE

Essential:

  • Relevant university degree or equivalent practical experience (at least 2-4 years) in donor and/or customer acquisition, retention, and content development, ideally in a non-profit or NGO context
  • Proven ability using analytics and reporting to inform channel and content decisions and measure success against key KPIs, primarily ROI
  • Experience creating and adapting fundraising content and messaging across formats and channels, including design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Adobe Premiere
  • Experience using Salesforce or an equivalent CRM
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in German (C1 level or above, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR), and fluent in English
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Desirable:

  • Experience working with agencies, external consultants, and vendors
  • Experience and knowledge in applying AI tools to support fundraising activities, such as content creation, campaign optimization, or data analysis

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a centralized or international organization, or in other cross-team and cross-country collaboration

WE OFFER

  • Meaningful work within a collaborative team
  • A starting salary of 51,428.58 Euro gross per year as well as an annual salary increase
  • Attractive employee benefits such as gym membership, company pension scheme, shopping vouchers, childcare subsidy, job bike leasing, subsidized Deutschlandticket (national public transport), and access to timely and confidential psychological support if needed
  • 30 days of annual leave and special leave days
  • Flexible hybrid-work options (working hours, office/homebased)
  • Training and professional development opportunities, including access to free language courses
  • Assistance services for people with disabilities, if required.

We look forward to receiving your application (including CV and – if available – three references) via our application portal – even if you do not meet all the listed requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
