About Invisix
Semiconductor manufacturers can't build what they can't measure. Invisix Measuring Systems is a fast-growing scale-up in the high-tech industry, developing next-generation metrology solutions for the semiconductor sector. We work at the intersection of optics, software, and data.
We're a small team, but the depth of knowledge inside Invisix is anything but small. Our culture is professional and fast-paced, with short communication lines and a strong sense of shared purpose. Everyone here is committed, and everyone knows their work directly contributes to something bigger.
The Role
We're looking for a Geometry Modeling Engineer to define how our modeling tool describes 3D structures, and how it should develop: modeling requirements, computational geometry, parametrization and tool strategy amongst others.
You'll work between the application team, the algorithm team and the software engineers who build the tool. You translate use cases into requirements, decide how the tool and its geometry engine should be extended, and guide the implementation through specifications, reviews and acceptance. Defining use cases and building models for customers' applications sits with our application engineers, and implementing and maintaining the tool sits with our software engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate the application team's use cases into modeling requirements: which structures, shape features and degrees of freedom the tool must support
- Identify what the modeling tool cannot represent today and specify how to extend it, including changes to the underlying geometry engine where needed
- Add geometric freedom where the current modeling approach is too rigid, for example rounded corners or freeform profiles, while keeping models valid for simulation and parameter estimation
- Assess whether extending the current tool remains the right path, or whether a new tool is the better investment, in terms of cost, effort and risk
- Define with the algorithm team how geometry models are handed over to our simulation software, and how modeling choices affect the measurement results
- Prototype new modeling capabilities and guide the software engineers who implement them, through specifications, reviews and acceptance
Is this you?
- MSc or PhD (or comparable experience) in physics, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Computational geometry experience: working with or on a geometry engine, CAD kernel or geometry library, including making it reliable on difficult cases
- Hands-on experience building 3D parametric models used in simulation, for example CAD modeling, process emulation or device modeling
- Experience preparing geometric models as input for physics solvers, for example FEM or TCAD
- Python skills for prototyping, and for working alongside the software team
- Fluent English
- Active use of AI tooling in your daily work (prototyping, testing, documentation) to boost efficiency
Nice to have
- Knowledge of semiconductor processes and process flows
- Experience building 3D parametric models from cross-section or microscopy images
- Experience designing parametrizations for numerical optimization
What We Offer
- A role at the heart of Invisix's modeling software, with real technical ownership from day one
- Competitive salary and benefits, including an Employee Share Ownership Plan
- A learning and development budget to support your growth
- Flexible working arrangements, and room to grow into adjacent responsibilities as the team scales
