Job description

Job Type: Full-Time l Location: San Francisco l Department: AI Infrastructure Supply Chain l Reporting to: Technical Lead Director, Manufacturing and Quality | Work Location Type: #Hybrid IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada. The Senior Product Quality Engineer, Network and Interconnects owns manufacturing and product quality for the network racks and interconnect hardware in IREN’s AI infrastructure, including switches, NICs, optics, cabling, and rack-scale fabrics. Reporting to the Technical Lead Director, Manufacturing and Quality, this senior individual-contributor role sets quality standards for mass production deployment and serves as the senior escalation point for network and interconnect failures. The role partners closely with Engineering, Technical Sourcing, AI Hardware Supply Chain Operations, Data Center Operations, and OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners to deliver network racks that meet IREN’s cost, quality, and yield targets at scale. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way - responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, test, and product quality for networking or data center hardware, ideally at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, or AI infrastructure company.
  • Knowledge of network hardware technologies (routing, switching, transport, and optics).
  • Proven experience with OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners and networking suppliers delivering switches, NICs, optics, and cable assemblies.
  • Working expertise with manufacturing and link-level test for network hardware, including BER and eye-margin testing, optical power and loss measurement, and fabric burn-in.
  • Hands-on experience driving manufacturing operations, including reliability and quality requirements, First Article Inspection, and acceptance criteria for network hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of quality methodologies (FACA, 8D, FMEA, SPC, yield analysis), PLM-based BOM and change management, and data center spares planning.
  • Strong problem solving, data analysis, and communication skills, with the ability to operate autonomously and drive root cause and corrective actions across cross-functional and supplier teams.
  • Own product and manufacturing quality strategy for IREN’s network racks and interconnect hardware, from NPI through volume production and sustaining.
  • Develop and implement scalable manufacturing and integration processes for network racks, covering switch and NIC installation, optics and cabling, and fabric bring-up.
  • Drive test methods to meet quality standards, and rack-level acceptance criteria for network racks, and drive continuous improvement with OEM/ODM/JDM partners and networking suppliers.
  • Lead troubleshooting of link, fabric, and interconnect failures during rack integration, cluster bring-up, and data center operation, owning the Major Issue List.
  • Drive root cause and corrective action (FACA) for network rack and interconnect failures to achieve quality and yield goals.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to own network rack manufacturing and ensure on-time delivery, cost, quality, and yield targets are met.
  • Advance rack- and fabric-level test coverage, methodologies, and infrastructure to maximize network reliability and scalability.
  • Conduct First Article and Source Inspections on network rack components and assemblies, and maintain production process and quality documentation, BOMs, and engineering changes in PLM tools.
  • Establish quality KPIs (First Pass Yield, DPPM, DOA/DefOa, link error rates) and governance cadences with partners and suppliers, and report performance to leadership.

Other important requirements

  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office location on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid work arrangement.
  • This role requires willingness to travel domestically and internationally to manufacturing partner, supplier, integration, and data center sites.
  • IREN does not yet have an office in the Bay Area (a Santa Clara office is planned); until it opens, this role will work remotely, transitioning to hybrid on-site work once the office is established.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
