Isola, an industry leader in global materials sciences whose mission is to improve life by enabling innovation in electronic products, is hiring a Global Manufacturing Systems Engineer in our Chandler, AZ Location.
Position Summary: The Global Manufacturing Systems Engineer bridges process engineering and industrial application development across Isola's manufacturing network. The role improves how processes are designed, standardized, monitored, and supported while building reliable Ignition applications that turn equipment and process data into practical tools for operators, engineers, and business partners. As an individual contributor, the engineer connects the process expertise of the Lamination and Treating and Compounding SMEs with the Automation Engineer's controls and OT architecture and the Reliability Engineer's asset-performance requirements.
Role Scope:
Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes, specifications, engineering standards, and critical technical documentation across global sites. Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain Ignition views and applications that support production, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and decision-making. Connect manufacturing equipment and data sources to Ignition and related plant systems, supporting reliable data acquisition, contextualization, visualization, and use. Provide advanced troubleshooting for process, equipment-data, application, and integration issues affecting safety, quality, yield, throughput, or downtime. Analyze process trends and operating data to identify root causes, control risks, and prioritize improvements. Lead process optimization and capability improvements across resin compounding, treating, lamination, and other applicable manufacturing operations. Partner with the process SMEs, Automation Engineering, Reliability Engineering, site engineering, Operations, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, Commercial, and IT/OT teams to translate production needs into sustainable solutions. Support new-product introduction and scale-up through procedures, test plans, data collection, validation, and production-readiness activities. Establish reusable Ignition and manufacturing-data standards, including documentation, naming conventions, testing, change control, support practices, and knowledge transfer. Manage cross-site projects that improve cost, quality, process capability, reliability, and operational efficiency. Provide technical recommendations for equipment, controls, tooling, infrastructure, and capital-investment decisions. Develop training and support materials for operators, engineers, and other system users, and share lessons learned across the manufacturing network.
Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field. At least five years of experience in manufacturing, process, controls, automation, or manufacturing-systems engineering. Hands-on experience developing and supporting applications on the Inductive Automation Ignition platform. Experience integrating manufacturing equipment or controls with plant data and visualization systems. Experience developing technical requirements, testing solutions, documenting systems and processes, supporting users, and managing multiple technical workstreams.
Preferred qualifications
Ignition certification or equivalent depth of platform experience. Experience with industrial communications, PLC-connected systems, OPC UA, SQL databases, historians, MES or ERP integrations, and reusable application design. Knowledge of resin compounding, treating, lamination, or PCB and laminate manufacturing. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical process control, Minitab, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, secure OT environments, or multi-site engineering experience.
Requirement – Knowledge & Competencies
Strong knowledge of manufacturing-process design, process capability, data acquisition, visualization, and industrial application lifecycle practices. Ability to design maintainable Ignition applications and integrations using clear requirements, reusable standards, testing, documentation, change control, and support practices. Working knowledge of industrial communications, PLC-connected systems, OPC UA, SQL databases, historians, and MES or ERP integration concepts. Strong structured problem-solving and statistical-analysis capability for resolving complex production and process issues. Working knowledge of secure and reliable OT support practices, including access, backup, change management, and recovery. Strong project-management and prioritization skills across sites and concurrent technical workstreams. Clear technical communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence partners without direct authority.
Requirement – Personal Attributes
Connects process, data, and user needs with practical, supportable technical solutions. Works collaboratively across manufacturing, engineering, operations, and IT/OT teams without direct authority. Applies disciplined, data-driven problem solving with ownership, curiosity, and attention to detail. Balances global standardization with site needs and operating continuity. Communicates technical information clearly to operators, engineers, business partners, and leaders. Builds capability through documentation, training, knowledge sharing, and responsive user support.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions This role is based onsite in Chandler, Arizona, and regularly works in industrial manufacturing environments around controls, electrical equipment, production machinery, utilities, and capital projects. Site-required PPE must be worn. Global travel of approximately 25-50% is expected for site assessments, project execution, acceptance testing, commissioning, capability building, and cross-regional alignment; occasional support outside normal business hours may be required.
