Parts Counter / Service Advisor Duties:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking parts and service support.
- Open, manage, and close service work orders while ensuring accurate documentation.
- Communicate repair updates, timelines, and recommendations to customers.
- Lookup, source, price, and order parts for diesel engines, trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment.
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure parts availability and efficient repair completion.
- Process customer orders, invoices, and purchase transactions accurately.
- Assist walk-in, phone, and email customers with parts and service inquiries.
- Utilize computerized inventory and service management systems to locate parts and monitor repair status.
- Receive, stock, and organize incoming parts shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and assist with inventory cycle counts.
- Build strong relationships with customers by delivering responsive and professional service.
- Follow all company safety procedures and operational standards.
Parts Counter / Service Advisor Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in parts sales, service advising, customer service, diesel, truck, automotive, agricultural, construction, or heavy equipment industries preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency and experience with business software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with diesel truck, trailer, power generation, agricultural, or heavy equipment parts.
- Knowledge of service operations, repair processes, and work order management.
- Familiarity with inventory management and parts catalog systems.
- Previous experience using dealership management or ERP systems.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engine and equipment components.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Additional technical, business, or industry-related training is a plus.
