The posting

Contract to start ASAP until 01-01-27 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently operate refuse collection vehicles and support the delivery of the Council's waste collection services.

The postholder will be responsible for driving and operating waste collection vehicles, ensuring refuse and recyclable materials are collected safely and in accordance with Council procedures, health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation

Responsibilities

Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles safely and responsibly.

Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects, damage or maintenance requirements.

Collect household, commercial or recyclable waste in accordance with designated routes and schedules.

Work as part of a refuse collection crew and assist with loading and emptying bins and containers.

Operate vehicle-mounted equipment and lifting mechanisms safely.

Ensure waste is handled and transported in accordance with environmental and health and safety requirements.

Follow planned collection routes and schedules and report any access or service issues.

Maintain a high standard of customer service when dealing with residents and members of the public.

Report missed collections, damaged bins, hazardous materials and other issues to the appropriate supervisor.
