Full job description EHCP Co-ordinator

Bromley Council

Hours: Full-time (36 hours per week)

Contract: Temporary – 12-week contract, ending 24 January 2027

Help Children and Young People Access the Support They Need to Thrive

We're recruiting two organised and compassionate EHCP Co-ordinators to support Bromley Council's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities service. This role focuses on coordinating Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), working with families and educational settings to support children and young people's progress, wellbeing and future aspirations. London Borough of Bromley

You'll bring a clear, supportive and professional approach to your work, helping families understand processes and ensuring their views are heard throughout planning and review discussions.

About the Role

As EHCP Co-ordinator, you'll support the management and review of plans, working with educational settings and specialist colleagues to keep information accurate and relevant to each child or young person's needs. Bromley's published co-ordinator responsibilities include supporting schools with plan administration and reviews, alongside collaboration with educational psychology, advisory and preparing-for-adulthood services. London Borough of Bromley

The precise balance of assessment, review and transition casework for these temporary assignments will be confirmed by the council.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing allocated EHCP casework, maintaining contact with families, educational settings and relevant professionals, and following up outstanding actions.
  • Supporting annual review processes, considering review documentation and helping progress recommendations through the council's decision-making procedures. London Borough of Bromley
  • Contributing to the drafting and amendment of EHCPs, bringing together professional advice and the views of children, young people and their families to describe needs, outcomes and support clearly. London Borough of Bromley
  • Working collaboratively with schools, colleges and specialist services, helping coordinate information and resolve queries relating to plans and provision. London Borough of Bromley
  • Supporting education transitions and preparation for adulthood, where relevant to your caseload, helping plans reflect future learning, independence and employment aspirations. London Borough of Bromley
  • Communicating sensitively with parents, carers and young people, explaining processes, providing updates and responding constructively to concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and monitoring deadlines, balancing competing priorities and escalating delays or complex matters appropriately. recruitmentbromley.engageats.co.uk
  • Contributing to quality assurance, checking that documentation is clear, consistent and informed by meaningful professional and family contributions. London Borough of Bromley

Requirements

We're looking for proactive, empathetic and detail-focused individuals who can manage a varied workload while keeping children, young people and families at the centre of their work.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in EHCP coordination, SEND casework or a closely related education or support role.
  • A good understanding of the SEND system and SEND Code of Practice, with the ability to apply this knowledge to practical casework.
  • Experience communicating with families and professionals, including explaining complex information and handling sensitive conversations.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and maintain clear, accurate records. recruitmentbromley.engageats.co.uk
  • Experience contributing to plans, reports or review documentation, with strong written communication and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across services, following up information and progressing agreed actions.
  • Good IT skills and a responsible approach to confidential information, including maintaining electronic case records.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and the ability to provide employment references and complete the required pre-employment checks.

Why Apply

  • Opportunity to contribute to better support and outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Varied role combining case coordination, family communication and partnership working.
  • Chance to apply your education or SEND experience within a local authority service.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
