The posting

Contract to start ASAP until 18-12-26 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To provide accurate and efficient financial and administrative support to the Finance function within West Sussex County Council.

The role will assist with the processing, reconciliation and maintenance of financial information, ensuring that transactions are completed accurately and in accordance with council policies, procedures and financial regulations.

Responsibilities

Process financial transactions accurately and within agreed timescales.

Assist with the processing of invoices, payments, receipts, journals and other financial documentation.

Maintain accurate financial records and databases.

Carry out routine reconciliations and investigate discrepancies, escalating issues where appropriate.

Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.

Support the preparation and maintenance of financial reports and management information.

Check financial documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with relevant procedures.

Assist finance officers and other members of the Finance team with day-to-day financial administration.

Respond to finance-related queries from internal departments, suppliers and other stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.

Maintain appropriate records and filing systems, ensuring information can be retrieved efficiently.

Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes as required.

Support budget monitoring and other financial control activities where required.

Ensure financial information is handled securely and confidentially.

Work in accordance with West Sussex County Council's financial regulations, policies and procedures.
