The posting

Contract to start ASAP until 31-03-27 with a possible extension.

JOB URPOSE

To coordinate externally commissioned transportation for children, young people and vulnerable adults to ensure that they receive appropriate, efficient, cost effective and safe transport

To commission effective passenger transport for home to school travel for children and young persons under special educational needs provision and for routes required by Social Services daily and on an ad hoc basis

To determine the proper requirements for travel for individual service users and select the appropriate type of transport for them

To undertake procurement exercises and tenders to commission new taxi routes and to re-tender existing routes to ensure best value for the council

To ensure transport services are efficient and cost effective by combining routes or transferring passengers to the council's own transport vehicles to optimise the council's travel budgets

To manage the registration of providers' crew to ensure suitable persons are employed to work with Merton service users

To be responsible for the day to day running of transport services provided via private hire vehicle and day to day communication with suppliers, schools, parents and commissioning services

To monitor transport providers to ensure that they comply with contractual requirements and implement policies and procedures which safeguard and protect transport users

To work in accordance with established systems, policies and procedures for the provision of transport using private hire vehicles

To efficiently undertake administrative, financial and technical support duties within the transport commissioning service/Contracts & School Organisation team

To maintain detailed, accurate and up to date records of all transport services and service users

To provide support and assistance to the wider Contracts & School Organisation team with a range of administrative tasks as required.
