UX/UI Designer – Housing Repairs Transformation

Hours: Full-time (36 hours per week)

Contract: 12 Week Temporary Contract, ending 24 January 2027

Design Better Digital Experiences for Housing Repairs Services

We're recruiting an experienced UX/UI Designer – Housing Repairs Transformation to join City of Westminster Council, supporting the transformation of digital services used by residents, operatives, contractors, and internal housing teams.

This is a senior design role for someone with strong user-centred design experience who can translate complex service requirements into simple, accessible, and intuitive digital experiences.

You'll work closely with product managers, business analysts, developers, housing repairs teams, operational colleagues, service designers, residents, and external partners to improve how housing repairs services are accessed, managed, and delivered.

About the Role

As a UX/UI Designer – Housing Repairs Transformation, you'll lead the design of user journeys, interfaces, prototypes, and digital service experiences across the housing repairs transformation programme.

You'll use research, data, testing, and stakeholder insight to understand user needs and turn them into practical digital solutions that improve customer experience, reduce friction, and support more efficient service delivery.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing user-centred digital experiences for housing repairs and related resident services
  • Mapping end-to-end user journeys across digital and operational touchpoints
  • Creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity interface designs
  • Translating complex service and business requirements into clear, intuitive digital experiences
  • Working closely with residents and frontline teams to understand user needs and pain points
  • Supporting user research and usability testing to validate design decisions
  • Iterating designs based on user feedback, analytics, and service performance
  • Collaborating with product managers, developers, business analysts, and service designers
  • Designing responsive and accessible interfaces that meet recognised accessibility standards
  • Applying and contributing to design systems to ensure consistency across digital products
  • Supporting the redesign of housing repairs processes and digital customer journeys
  • Creating prototypes to test new ideas quickly before development
  • Working within agile delivery teams and contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Presenting design concepts and recommendations to senior stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Balancing resident needs, business requirements, technical constraints, and service objectives
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify journeys and reduce unnecessary steps
  • Supporting continuous improvement across digital housing services
  • Ensuring design decisions are evidence-based and focused on measurable user outcomes

Requirements

We're looking for an experienced, user-focused, and collaborative UX/UI Designer with a strong portfolio of digital service design work.

You'll ideally have:

  • Significant experience working as a UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, or Digital Designer
  • Strong experience designing complex digital services or transactional user journeys
  • Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs
  • Strong knowledge of user-centred design principles
  • Experience conducting or supporting user research and usability testing
  • Experience working with design tools such as Figma
  • Strong understanding of responsive and accessible design
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
  • Experience working with design systems and reusable component libraries
  • Experience working within agile multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product managers, analysts, and service teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience using data and user feedback to improve designs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced transformation environment
  • Experience designing public-sector, housing, repairs, local government, or resident-facing services would be highly advantageous
  • Experience with service transformation or digital transformation programmes would be beneficial
  • A strong UX/UI portfolio demonstrating relevant work
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Ability to provide three years of references/work history
  • Ability to complete a Criminal Convictions Declaration
  • Ability to sign a Confidentiality Agreement

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
