The posting

Janes empowers military, government, and defence leaders to act with confidence in an increasingly complex world. Our trusted defence, security, and geopolitical information delivered through seamless digital platforms and system integrations—turns overwhelming data into clear, actionable intelligence and insight. By filling critical information gaps, Janes helps customers analyse threats, accelerate decisions, and stay ahead of emerging challenges.

Job purpose:

The Solution Team Lead, APAC is a critical role within the Global Solutions team, responsible for leading a team of Solutions Engineers in a strategically important region for Janes. This is a hands-on technical leadership position, combining people management with direct involvement in complex customer integrations and solution delivery.

Working within the Global Product Solutions team, you will be accountable for enabling the integration and optimisation of Janes’ interconnected intelligence capabilities across the APAC customer base. This includes managing and developing a high-performing engineering team, while also contributing personally to priority customer engagements where deep technical expertise and architectural judgement are required.

The role underpins Janes’ growth across the Asia-Pacific region. You will manage and work alongside the APAC Solutions team supporting mission-critical customer operations, embedding Janes data into customer environments, enabling interoperability with third-party and customer datasets, and aligning delivered solutions with customers’ AI, intelligence, and data strategies. You will play a key role in shaping how Janes data is deployed and consumed within complex, operational systems.

In addition, you will contribute to the definition and documentation of data standards, technical specifications, and integration pathways. This work will help improve customer outcomes, ensure consistency and scalability across deployments, and drive technical innovation within Janes’ solutions ecosystem.

You will contribute to high-impact customer and partner projects across the Asia-Pacific region, helping to shape the evolution of Janes’ technical estate—including our graph knowledgebase, intelligence products, and supporting infrastructure. Your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on national security and defence capability, both through the success of customer missions and the continued growth of Janes in the region.

How you will contribute at Janes:

  • Team Leadership & Management Lead the day-to-day operation of the APAC Solutions Engineering team, setting clear priorities, providing technical coaching and mentoring, managing performance, and building capability and capacity in line with regional and global objectives.
  • System Integration Lead and contribute to the integration of Janes data and models into customer systems of record, ensuring solutions are robust, operationally relevant, and aligned with customer architectures.
  • Product Delivery Support the development and delivery of Janes Interconnected Intelligence products, ensuring implementations align with defined standards, technical expectations, and customer use cases.
  • Customer Advisory Provide hands-on technical advisory support to customers, both remotely and on-site, offering guidance on data structures, integration approaches, and system optimisation.
  • Gap Analysis Identify, assess, and prioritise unmet data and integration requirements that are critical to customer adoption and mission success.
  • Strategic Expansion Contribute to the identification of adjacent content and data domains for potential expansion—organically or through acquisition—to increase Janes’ relevance to customer missions.
  • Market Intelligence Monitor partner and competitor activity within customer environments, providing insight to inform collaboration opportunities, growth strategies, and risk mitigation.
  • Presales & Bids Support technical presales engagements, bids, and proposals, contributing solution design, integration approaches, and subject-matter expertise.

The ideal skills and experience for this role are:

  • People Leadership & Delivery Management Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, with clear accountability for delivery, performance management, coaching, and capability development. Proven ability to operate as a player-coach, balancing hands-on technical contribution with effective team leadership. Experience planning and prioritising work, managing competing demands, and ensuring consistent delivery across customer engagements. Confident handling escalations, providing technical direction, and representing the team with senior internal and customer stakeholders.
  • Domain Expertise Strong experience in data integration, system interoperability, and technical advisory roles, ideally within defence, intelligence, or national security contexts. Deep understanding of data models, ontologies, and standards relevant to military and intelligence customers. Experience working directly with government, defence, or intelligence organisations, with an appreciation of operational constraints and mission priorities.
  • Technical Proficiency Strong practical experience with Python, including APIs, SDKs, and data engineering workflows. Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and production-grade solution delivery. Hands-on experience with graph database technologies (e.g. Neo4j, ArangoDB, GraphDB). Working knowledge of at least two of the following: ArcGIS, Palantir, relational databases (RDBMS), or graph-based platforms.
  • Education & Communication Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience. Clear and confident communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences. Comfortable operating within small, agile, and globally distributed teams. Understanding of the intelligence cycle and the ability to align technical solutions to operational requirements.
  • Mindset & Professional Approach Delivery-focused technical leader with a pragmatic approach to solving complex customer and integration challenges. Able to think strategically while remaining accountable for hands-on execution and team outcomes. Collaborative and commercially aware, with a strong focus on customer success and team effectiveness. Resilient and adaptable, capable of leading teams through ambiguity, change, and high-priority delivery demands.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
