Job Type: Contract

Duration: 1+ Year — Long Term

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid — 3 days in office)

Experience: 7+ Years

Only candidates with work authorization in Canada may apply.

What Is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a UI React Developer with strong Redux experience to join the Quantitative and Technology Services (QTS) team, developing, improving, and supporting strategic applications within the RAMPP (Risk, Analytics, Modelling, Pricing & Processing) organization. You will work with best-in-class front-end technologies to build applications that consume large quantities of data and present key metrics and statistics to Capital Markets business clients.

You will tackle complex problems and deliver robust, efficient, and strategic UI solutions with lasting impact on the RAMPP organization and Capital Markets businesses. Working closely with Capital Markets trading teams, you will help define project requirements, coordinate testing efforts, and provide implementation support. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential.

What Will You Do?

  • Code, test, debug, implement, and support real-time risk and PnL applications using React and Redux, serving a wide range of business units within the Capital Markets space
  • Design and build responsive, data-intensive user interfaces, including real-time intraday reporting and real-time visualizations
  • Manage complex application state using Redux, Redux-Observable, and RxJS to handle high-volume, real-time data streams
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve production issues related to data flows, application performance, system latency, and infrastructure/network outages
  • Collaborate with Capital Markets Trading and Quant teams through all stages of the software development lifecycle, eliciting and implementing business requirements and owning projects from inception to completion
  • Proactively identify operational risks, control deficiencies, and opportunities for automation to increase productivity and enhance user experiences
  • Demonstrate project implementations to key stakeholders, including senior management, executives, and wider QTS technology teams
  • Contribute to the internal UI sharing economy and the broader UI development community, supporting the overall vision of QTS' UI/UX strategy

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with React 16+ and Redux in production environments
  • Experience with RxJS 6+ and reactive/functional programming patterns
  • Solid working knowledge of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, threading and concurrency, ES2020+, and front-end best practices
  • Experience building robust, scalable, test-driven front-end platforms utilizing modern HTML5 APIs and PWA techniques and technologies such as Web Workers, Service Workers, CacheStorage, IndexedDB, ES6 Proxies, and Sockets

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in the financial industry, ideally Capital Markets
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript 4+
  • Experience with Redux-Observable (Observables), Redux Toolkit, and state management at scale
  • Aptitude for UI design and building strong user experiences; experience with design tools is a bonus
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Cypress/Playwright and/or Jest for building robustly tested, test-driven products
  • Familiarity with DevOps tooling such as JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes, including JavaScript build tools/pipelines such as Vite, Bun, Babel, Webpack 5, Rollup, and ESBuild
  • Working knowledge of functional architectures and related tools such as Lodash/fp and Ramda
  • Knowledge of OpenFin and Electron-based architectures
  • Experience with server-side development in Node.js, Java 11, or Python
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Solace
  • Familiarity with additional front-end frameworks, tools, and paradigms such as D3, GraphQL, MobX, React Query, and AG-Grid
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies
  • Quick learner with the aptitude to pick up new technologies and business knowledge
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and effectively, with a collaborative attitude

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
